Decisions....decisions......
I have a solid offer in Knoxville...

CS and I are still discussing whether I take it. When I had her in Townsend for the weekend, she didn't want to come back. So now we have to decide in the next few days what is the best thing to do.

This sure isn't easy.

Congrats, chili. I can't help you with your decision, but I know its a good feeling to have another firm wanting your services.

Good Luck! Just stay away from Pigeon Forge, that place sucks. I hate tourist traps. I was subjected to that place one too many times with my ex-wife's family.

BTW - Townsend is nice. We eat at the Back Porch on our way out of town from Cades Cove each time when family camping.

And wouldn't this be a good move for someone so... cough, cough... interested in sports that feature orange jerseys???!

LOL!

yeah, Mapes, re-read. CS wanted to stay there. I was through Townsend once. Right by Smoky Mt. N'tl Park. Gorgeous.

And I ran into dayhiker and he gave me dessert. But only after I provided beer !! And then we both dissed UT and burned an orange jersey.

Chili, make a list of pros and cons. It'll become clear what the right decision is when you have it on paper.

Chili
It's tough picking up everything and moving, but from meeting you and your family the few times that I did - I would think that the Knoxville area is more your speed. Make sure you check out South Knox/Seymour area - I like it better than Blount County/Maryville/Townsend area (it's cheaper too), but I have good friends that live close to Walland/Townsend area who love it. Stay away from West Knoxville unless you like the new suburbs and stuff, but if you work in West Knox, Blount County or Loudon County is nice.

I love living here. I have been to alot of places, but I love East Tennessee. I just canoed to Campsite 90 across Fontana Lake with Azimuth and we ran into some good local folks that we knew - just by accident. We spent the night around the fire passing whiskey and agreeing that East TN is the place to be!

chili - it should be clear that the mountains are calling you and CS. I imagine that this putting you 6 hours or so from your kids is the biggest issue. Good luck in deciding what to do.

Didn't you have Geography in school?

V - she didn't say she didn't know where it was, but that she thought CS didn't want to move. I think we need to check the reading comprehension for V and maple.

We will probably move within a month if I go.

I have another day or two to weigh some options but if I take this job, then I will go to Charlotte for two weeks of training and will probably "move" between Christmas and New Years.

Hooters is in the same lot as Walmart. You can visit while CS shops in Walmart.

So far that is the only Hooters that I have visited. I did go back for seconds.

Memphis or Knoxville?
Well, let's see...

Memphis...Closer to the Eleven Point..

Knoxville...Closer to the smokies, Cumberland Gap, Big South Fork, The Ocoee, Ashville, Firey Gizzard/Stone Door, MATT's House in Murfreesboro(maybe that's fifty/fifty), Cumberland Island, yada yada yada....

I love the Eleven Point Now that I've seen it, but Knoxville would be closer to more BPing places and the commute to Eleven Point is doable 2 or 3 times a year...

I'm neutral however, since you will still be 5 hours away whether you stay in Memphis or move to Knoxville....Come visit, SIPSEY will not be any further away if you are in Knoxville....LOL.

So memphis must be........western TN?

Extreme western TN. Almost as far west as you can go and still be in TN.

At that point, Arkansas.

In case you don't know Tennessee,

  • East Tennessee is the Cosby, Newport and Waynesville areas around the east end of GSMNP. (Yes, Waynesville. Forget the incorrectly drawn state line.)
  • Central Tennessee is GSMNP
  • West Tennessee is Maryville and Tallassee areas at the west end of GSMNP.
That is the real Tennessee. Other areas could just as well be considered to be in the surrounding states.

At last we'll have a good place to get a hot shower!
