I like the coffee a little stronger than others, so when I make it, I put a healthy amount in the basket and start it. Our machine here has that "pause and serve" feature, so I get mine when the pot is only about half done (strong), and then it's weaker for the wimps, er, I mean, other nice folks here....

I was making double-strength here at work.

The wimps in my offices kept throwing it out.

Hell, I have my own coffee maker at work. It's the only way I can get a decent cup.

Cowboy Coffee sounds very much like Hobo Coffee. You pour near boiling hot water right over the grounds and let it sit for awhile. After a few minutes, pour a little bit of cold water in and the grounds sink to the bottom. That is not a cup of coffee that is "good to the last drop". It's more like "Good to the last half inch".

I have a little 4 cup Mr. Coffee sitting in my cube. I make my coffee to suit myself.

We went on a horse ride thingee when we were in Canada a couple years back. They took us out to a little picnic area out in the woods and made a giant breakfast - steak, eggs, pancakes, etc. I was joking beforehand that I was hoping they'd have "cowboy coffee," and sure enough they did!! Man, was it ever good!

The 4-cup Mr. Coffee is what I use at home. I'm the only one who drinks The Black Liquid That Giveth Morning Life, so I only need a 4-cup brewer.

Can you make tea with a french press? Like with loose tea leaves?

You know, it's only fair if one was to deviate from the prescribed amount of coffee to brew per pot that you make your own (whether you like it strong or weak.) Kudos to y'all who have your own coffee makers.

I'm making a new batch right now.
Smells wonderful!

I don't think there's anybody who's making their own coffee because the work coffee is just too strong...

If it's too strong you can always cut it with hot water. My grandfather always put another kettle on the stove for hot water so my grandmother could cut the black tar java he made down to her preferred strength.

I totally disagree. Once it's made very strong there is no fixin' it. LOL! Believe me, I've tried. The bitterness just won't go away. (Although, I did try Gem's "tinny bit of salt" trick and it helped a little.)

My fiance wants to register for a french press, but none of us drink coffee. I can count the number of times he's had tea on one hand, but he's pretty adament about getting one. I don't even think he knows where to get regular tea leaves.

But I digress. I have no annoying co-workers, just annoying grad school professors!

Another way to get the coffee grounds to the bottom is to brew it this way.

Git yourself a big ole camp coffee pot with a long handle. First boil the water and add the grounds to the top. Keep the boil up and after about 5 or so minutes, take it off the heat.

Next comes the fun. Hold the pot and pretend you are Pete Townsond from The Who, playin the guitar.

The cube over started a loud fourway conference call on speakerphone, then walked away for about thirty minutes while the loud discussion was still going on.

co workers come in handy sometimes...
Like yesterday when I couldn't get Barbie's other leg off - I gave it to one of the guys and he snapped it right off! I gave him the leg to keep as a trophy...

No, violin did not. He's to busy shopping at Wal-Mart.

Once at work I was walking down the hall through the marketing department. The department head was talking to one of her people on the phone. They were both using their speakerphones and I could clearly hear both sides of the conversation.

There's a rumor going around at work that the freak guy that was sleeping with his best friend's wife (the best friend also got him the job) and quit to run away with her has called to see if he can come back! I wonder if she got sick of him or the other way around!

The answer is no since he called in sick his last night he was supposed to work so he cheated the company out of 8 hours of sick pay.

He was so WEIRD AND YUCKY!!!

THIS TAKES THE CAKE
Just spent 20 minutes, 1200 second of my life with a union member. His job is an elementary custodian. He calls with a concern. He wants to know if he has to disinfect the class room desks today (his principal told him to). I say yes, that sounds like basic custodial duties. He explains that he hasnt done that in 20 years. I told him I did it weekly when I was a custodain and that is his job. He then says that the timing is the problem. I ask how so? His response, "well it just came outta the blue". I told him, that maybe its cause its january and the kids are sick. This round and round mess lasted a full 20 minutes. I asked him what he thought we should do. Maybe a meeting with mgmt? His response, No. Okay , then what?...silence. Finally it ends. I am in absolute shock at this fella.

Birch, You should have said "WHAT, YOU HAVEN'T DISINFECTED THE DESKS IN 20 YEARS? We're going to have to dock your pay! Now it takes about 1 hour to do that part of your job per week, you owe us approximately $12,000.00. That's 12 years x 1 hour/52 weeks x 12.00 hr." That would have shut him up quick!!!

heck no dont disinfect! this is a good teaching opportunity for the kids entitled "your body and you chapter one: your immune system and you"

today, kids, we learn first hand the way your body feels when its fighting off an infection, what snot is really for (its a sticky germ shield!), and why you really shouldnt bug mommy when she says shes not feeling well. she really means it!
