“Yeah, colic quite a bad case but luckily it worked itself out without surgery. Good thing too, cause I want to put a new roof on my house this spring. I was up til 3:30 getting him to MSU. The only facility with large animal surgery capabilities in this part of MI.

I grew up with horses on the farm, and then I also used to work for Yale University with their polo ponies (glorified mucker). Besides what I do now, that was my most favorite job of all time.”

Ruby: My horse is an Oldenburg and his name is Ignition (I call him Iggy). Bred and raised him myself for jumping, dressage and eventing. He's in beginner training but grew to be a pretty big boy, 16'3" and chestnut red. His mom was a throroughbred as are polo ponies and his great great great grandfather was Man O War. The Oldenburg breeding comes from his daddy's side. He's like my 3rd child.

How about some plain old iced tea and a BLT for lunch Sacco?”

Unfortunately, it's been a long time since I've had a horse of my own. The last time a rode regulary was 11 years ago in Connecticut when I was leasing a beautiful 18-hand thoroughbred named Copper. He was a handful.”

“He was a handful, but I like 'em that way. ;) I always knew that if he threw me, it would be a long ways down, but I kept my seat. So it was all good.”

“Oldenburgs are built more like Holsteiners. They were originally bred for carraige but have become more the sporthorse type. Dressage and jumping.

I have pics but don't know how to post them. I'll give it a shot.

“funny timing. i rode my morgan for the first time in months yesterday and he bucked me off.

snow was nice to land on but i smacked my knee cap on the horn on the way.

luckily, he's only 13-2 !

he looks so damn cute right now that it's hard to stay mad it him. he's a very stocky guy with a real thick winter coat.
