I was going to go volunteer at the USO at Navy Pier tonight, but they just called and said never mind since they are closing early. So now I can drink.


I am going to make a yummy margarita for myself.”

“Ruby - I think your being a volunteer there is great. Many years ago I attend a USO in Chicago, then a few times in Baltimore and, finally, a number of times in Stuttgart, Germany. It was enjoyable to be able to use the services, to talk, dance, play games(I enjoyed chess and bridge) and relax in a nice environment. Thank you for being a volunteer.

"Swing and Sway with the CTA," is the motto. The CTA, "The Chicago Transit Authority, ... consists of the El (an elevated train system) and buses" Some of the EL, also, becomes a subway system in the loop. So please use the term, "El," carefully and with some respect for Chicagoans. Thanks.

By the way, no margarita's are permitted on the CTA. Most of the people riding with brown bags will not share. Be careful about asking for a little.

I forgot about transportation in NYC. In early years I had a lot of personal experience with the El in Chicago. That was long before everything was printed in both English and Spanish. Sorry about such a crude attempt at some humor.
