Personally I thought TV was of the devil but that’s beside the point. So she goes on the show Trading Spouses where the woman of the house swaps places with another wife/mother. Normally the two households are very different. She gets sent to this house where they are into astrology and stuff. And this is what happened when she came home. This is MUST SEE TV folks… http://www.youtube.com/watch.php?v=EvCiBXybsbE&search=witches%20warriors%20questions For the first half of the intire clip I kept saying, "What the fukc is 'dorksided? They're dorksided? What the hell?". LOL!'” 2:56:22 PM 11/21/05 “Holy Moly! (the spirit of Eris is definitely with that woman!)” 5:01:08 PM 11/21/05 “wow, that is one intense woman.” 5:19:44 PM 11/21/05 “uh......I think she was the piano player at a church I pastored about ten years ago.” 8:15:19 AM 11/22/05 Penn Gillette “From the NPR series "this I believe" Read this closely. Some of it makes a ton of sense. God. I'm beyond Atheism. Atheism is not believing in God. Not believing in God is easy -- you can't prove a negative, so there's no work to do. You can't prove that there isn't an elephant inside the trunk of my car. You sure? How about now? Maybe he was just hiding before. Check again. Did I mention that my personal heartfelt definition of the word "elephant" includes mystery, order, goodness, love and a spare tire? So, anyone with a love for truth outside of herself has to start with no belief in God and then look for evidence of God. She needs to search for some objective evidence of a supernatural power. All the people I write e-mails to often are still stuck at this searching stage. The Atheism part is easy. But, this "This I Believe" thing seems to demand something more personal, some leap of faith that helps one see life's big picture, some rules to live by. So, I'm saying, "This I believe: I believe there is no God." Having taken that step, it informs every moment of my life. I'm not greedy. I have love, blue skies, rainbows and Hallmark cards, and that has to be enough. It has to be enough, but it's everything in the world and everything in the world is plenty for me. It seems just rude to beg the invisible for more. Just the love of my family that raised me and the family I'm raising now is enough that I don't need heaven. I won the huge genetic lottery and I get joy every day. Believing there's no God means I can't really be forgiven except by kindness and faulty memories. That's good; it makes me want to be more thoughtful. I have to try to treat people right the first time around. Believing there's no God stops me from being solipsistic. I can read ideas from all different people from all different cultures. Without God, we can agree on reality, and I can keep learning where I'm wrong. We can all keep adjusting, so we can really communicate. I don't travel in circles where people say, "I have faith, I believe this in my heart and nothing you can say or do can shake my faith." That's just a long-winded religious way to say, "shut up," or another two words that the FCC likes less. But all obscenity is less insulting than, "How I was brought up and my imaginary friend means more to me than anything you can ever say or do." So, believing there is no God lets me be proven wrong and that's always fun. It means I'm learning something. Believing there is no God means the suffering I've seen in my family, and indeed all the suffering in the world, isn't caused by an omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent force that isn't bothered to help or is just testing us, but rather something we all may be able to help others with in the future. No God means the possibility of less suffering in the future. Believing there is no God gives me more room for belief in family, people, love, truth, beauty, sex, Jell-o and all the other things I can prove and that make this life the best life I will ever have.” 9:03:29 AM 11/22/05 “And I thought I was preachy! WOW! However, your right, a lot of it makes sense. I think that the writer is tired of the 'religiosity' of a lot of folks. Jaroslav Pelikan wrote (Vindication Of Tradition) "Tradition is the living faith of the dead, and Traditionalism is the dead faith of the living."” 9:17:02 AM 11/22/05 “Said in another way (which I read on a urinal wall at a bar off 6th street in Austin in '78) "Save the Republic, Plato's Dead!" to which someone replied........ "A cold Platato"” 9:20:50 AM 11/22/05 “Just an little added note about the crazy lady. Somehow she found her way clear to accept the diry, tainted, "dorksided" check for $25,000 so she could get gasstric bypass surgery.” 1:45:09 PM 11/22/05 LOL! “Good for her. I've concluded that she was demonically posessed while hanging out with the "dorksiders" and that was why she was carrying on like that.” 1:48:06 PM 11/22/05 “She should have bought an exorcism and a fifth of "good Irish whiskey".” 5:49:24 PM 11/22/05 The Boston Tree “Can't call it a Christmas tree anymore. Christians are too evil. http://news.bostonherald.com/localRegional/view.bg?articleid=114565” 6:18:32 PM 11/29/05 A Holiday Tree! “What will The Christian Science Monitor say about this? Their Church's headquarters is located in Boston? I could not find any word about it from searching in their on-line edition.” 6:54:04 PM 11/29/05 “"Christmas trees" are pagan.” 7:15:17 PM 11/29/05 “Merry Christmas, bearmagnet.” 7:23:32 PM 11/29/05 “LOL @ bacpac.” 7:31:11 PM 11/29/05 “Merry Christmas to y'all.” 7:34:57 PM 11/29/05 “I've never understood why you yanks are so anal about the whole using of the word Christmas. Just because Christmas is taking place doesn't mean other holidays can't exist.” 7:56:50 PM 11/29/05 “Easy for you to say, y'all kicked all the non-believers out or burned them at the stake.” 8:01:51 PM 11/29/05 “leave it to christians to only be able to see things from their pov” 5:18:50 AM 11/30/05 facetious font “besides, what does an evergreen tree being crushed by its own weight in gaudy ornaments have to do with the baby jesus? its not like there was forest after forest filled with ponderosa pine around bethlehem” 5:21:47 AM 11/30/05 “Can anyone comment about 'gnosticism'? Apparrently it was one of the early trends in Christianity, although is said to actually predate the life of Jesus at least in some form, as well, gnosticism, from what I understand, is counter to many established Judeo-Christian tenets and was suppressed and almost eradicated by Paulinians in the first few centuries a.d..” 6:37:22 AM 11/30/05 “Yirmiyahu 10:2-4 2. So says the Lord: of the way of the nations you shall not learn, and from the signs of the heaven be not dismayed, for the nations are dismayed from them. 3. For the statutes of the peoples are vanity, for it is but a stock that one cut from the forest, the handiwork of a carpenter with a small axe. 4. With silver and gold he beautifies it, with nails and with sledge hammers they strengthen them so that it does not bend.” 7:42:38 AM 11/30/05 “This is such a non-issue. The only reason xtian idiots are making a fuss about this is to keep the whole "war against xtianity" meme alive and well, to keep the ignorant sheep enthralled. F*** Christians.” 7:51:15 AM 11/30/05 “"Having nothing to say, he swore!"” 7:58:22 AM 11/30/05 “"F*** Christians.” Missionary position?” 8:07:56 AM 11/30/05 “Please don't ever confuse Christianity with people that hide behind it, or misuse it. Anytime an idea or a movement is respected by many, there will be people who try to take advantage of it. I know this thread is supposed to be funny. A lot of it is funny and got me laughing, but there is some seriousness here too.” 12:28:57 PM 11/30/05 “Even Fox News Can't Say Christmas Tree in their Headlines. At least they put it in when Mrs Bush said it in the article. Holiday Trees Arrive at Capitol, White House Monday, November 28, 2005 (Off FOX NEWS) WASHINGTON — Two of the nation's three branches of government were adorning themselves with more branches Monday as holiday trees were delivered to the Capitol and the White House. The Capitol Holiday Tree, which originated from New Mexico's Santa Fe National Forest, was cut earlier this month and has been on a tour across the state since them. According to the Web site for the tree, the Engelmann spruce stands 80 feet tall. First lady Laura Bush received the White House Christmas Tree, saying this year's theme for the tree would be, "all things bright and beautiful." "The decorators are in there right now. Santa's elves are in decorating the White House, and all of you will get to see it the day after tomorrow," said Bush. The White House tree, a Fraser fir, is 18 1/2 feet tall and will be displayed in the White House Blue Room. The tree was cut in North Carolina on Friday, and the first lady thanked the Buddy and Betsy Deal, of Laurel Springs, N.C., for providing the evergreen. The first lady said the National Christmas Tree Growers Association had provided the White House tree every year for the last 40 years, beginning in 1966 during the Johnson administration. On Monday a horse-drawn wagon brought the conifer to the North Portico at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. "Our horses aren't working as a team this morning," Bush said as she eyed one restless horse and scanned the tree, which was bound and protruding from the back of a green-and-red wagon. The Deals have been growing trees for more than 30 years and won a national contest run by the tree growers association, attracting White House staffers. Gary Walters, chief usher at the White House, and Mike Lawn, grounds foreman, selected the tree at the Deal's farm on Oct. 20. The tree for the Blue Room as well as trees for the Bush family's private residence and the Oval Office were cut on Nov. 25 and transported to Washington.” 12:42:11 PM 11/30/05 “That report is from the AP.” 12:51:55 PM 11/30/05 “Sweet Jesus, the White House Holiday Tree has it's own freakin' website! Makes my crappy little plastic CHRISTMAS TREE look plastic, crappy and little :-(” 12:53:49 PM 11/30/05 “nope off Fox News, you know they wouldn't use the AP since Fox is fair and balanced to the right” 12:55:41 PM 11/30/05 “I know it's off Fox News. It comes from the AP. Using stories from the lefty AP is what contributes to them being fair and balanced. I wonder if "News Hounds", where you got that story from, is "fair and balanced". I doubt they can make the distinction between a commentary (by Hannity), and a news story.” 12:57:37 PM 11/30/05 “got it right off fox news, it was their main story Monday” 12:59:13 PM 11/30/05 “I know that AP news article came off of Fox News.” 1:02:04 PM 11/30/05 “so glad you saw the article Monday on Fox news..tsk,tsk” 1:04:43 PM 11/30/05 “I didn't see that AP article on Monday on Fox News. I saw it today.” 1:06:26 PM 11/30/05 “There's only one solution---Festivus!!” 1:10:38 PM 11/30/05 “For the restofus?? Happy Ramahanakwanzmas!!” 1:27:10 PM 11/30/05 “The anti-christmas movement is retarded. As long as my tax dollars aren’t used for it I don’t care what ya call it. And as long as all religions have the equal access to public displays then it’s all good. If ya don’t like a lot of Christian association then America probably isn’t for you because we have freedom of religion here (not freedom from religion.” 2:54:12 PM 11/30/05 “ Why does Laura Bush hate Christmas?MRS. BUSH: Well, all things bright and beautiful is the theme this year. I think it will be really bright and beautiful with this fabulous tree. But thank you all very much. Happy holidays. I know this is the real start of the season, the Monday after Thanksgiving, and so I want to wish everybody happy holidays. And we'll see you later this week with the White House decorations. Not AP: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/11/20051128-1.html last edited: 11/30/05 3:45:37 PM” 3:43:09 PM 11/30/05 “I expect all you numbskulls to write the White House and DEMAND that Laura say "Merry Christmas".” 3:49:45 PM 11/30/05 “Of course being a member of a secret Satanic society, she probably can't say it. ![]() ![]() last edited: 11/30/05 4:09:01 PM” 3:59:49 PM 11/30/05 “What's the matter wingnuts, cat got yer tongue?” 4:10:06 PM 11/30/05 ““"Having nothing to say, he swore!"” nowslimmer having nothing but bumper sticker philosophy, he posted!” 4:10:08 PM 11/30/05 “i think shes saying "rawk on!"” 4:11:04 PM 11/30/05 “Maybe she's just trying to give Bush rabbit ears for the press?” 4:24:34 PM 11/30/05 “Crash Bang - That quotation is from pre-bumpersticker days. It was posted on the lockerroom wall of the Roseland branch of the Chicago YMCA in about 1948. It has had a definite impact upon my language ever since then. I have grown to detest people who feel that they have to use foul language. And yes, I do it sometimes myself, regrettably. I have not led a perfect life in many respects.” 5:02:42 PM 11/30/05 “Who the #&%!$ has?” 5:05:50 PM 11/30/05 “its still bumper-sticker philosophy. taking a complex issue and parsing it down to a clever little phrase with a minimum of words is reductionist and one of my pet peeves. many good people use foul language. using it or not using it does not make anyone better or worse than anyone else. alot of it has to do with the environment you grew up in. what makes your assessment of mutt doubly annoying is that he typically has the most well-thought out posts along with some of the most original thinking let me recap: mutt brought up the point about how christians always feel like theyre the victims, and even without the f-word, was very colorful and strong in his language. and then because of one little f-bomb, you just completely marginalize everything else he had to say well thats just effing stupid” 5:13:55 PM 11/30/05 “Ya know, it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys...” 5:16:02 PM 11/30/05 “nig-l, pull your pants on, pull your dick out of the jello, and shut up! ;-P” 5:17:29 PM 11/30/05 Jump to Page << prev
