The Kabalistic explanation is that when G-d created the light (truth) and released it into the world much of it went into Torah but some got sprinkled all over the world. youre assuming that theyve actually thought things through rather than just go along with the dominant religion of their particular region, into which theyve been inculcated all their lives. brainwashing and drawing a conclusion are two different things. the only religion the vast majority of people in the u.s. have any significant exposure to is christianity. and when it gets pounded into peoples head by fear and intimidation, its easy to see why they choose the safety blanket.

Ewker - Christian churches preach that we are imperfect. They also preach that we do not meet the standards of God. That is why Jesus Christ died on the cross for us. That's sort of the whole point of Christianity. Christians being hypocrites is just a symptom of being human. We know we're hypocrites, that's why we know we have to rest in Jesus for salvation. You focus on Christian hypocricy is actually thinking very much like a Christian. The only difference is that you have to accept your hypocricy as well (or your lack of being able to meet the moral standards of God).”
