Richard Harding Davis is buried in a cemetery down the street from where I work. He was perhaps the best known war correspondent of the S-A war.

In Puerto Rico, he took the surrender of a Spanish army unit before the US Army got the to place. The American commander was not at all happy over that.

Davis reported on, and popularlized, the Rough Riders and their colonel, Theodore Roosevelt. He was not only at San Juan, but fired a few shots at the Spanish with a revolver he always carried.

My folks have a Spanish American War bugle that was my grea great (or sumpthin like that) Grandfathers.
