We're already to Europe in spring Embear. I did think a cabin somewhere would be nice though. Ideally somewhere snowy.

you know I didn't read all the anwers, but here's mine: real nice gift for me, or any other female hiker. For us gear sluts...

does she hike with you because she likes hiking or because she knows you like it??

if if the later...then I would get her something else...

oh, but I also have to say $200 for a "lay" is a bit too much. i mean...how many times can you get laid with $200??

if it's serious...different story.

oh, it's not just a lay. She's getting the pressie cos I like her. She's not really hiked before, and she had to buy some gear at REI the other week to come with me. It's kinda me saying I appreciate that you want to do this with me and I like having you there. Having looked around DC as well, there's also lots of women in down jackets about, so hopefully there's some use to it generally as well as just backpacking.

Oh, and gem, I dunno, depends where you go I guess.
And I wouldn't spend this to try to get into someone's pants. I've been seeing lots of her for quite a while.

lol, u know I am just messing with you. If it's serious, I think go for it, at least if she likes to hike.

still think she would prolly like something else better. maybe... don't know..I never was too much into the jewlery stuff...always bought what I liked myself. I rather wanted a drill or a saw. lol

so it really depends on what person she is.

yes, I'll get her some power tools.... maybe a PS2 that she can leave at my house. Hmmm, or a two-person tent. Jewelry, too serious for where we are at the mo.

I see you asked for a woman’s opinion but since all these (ahem) men opined already…

You claim that you’re serious about this woman - not just trying to score some thank you sex.

I’d think it might be time to put her domestic skills to the test - if you might be considering settling down with her.

Just buy a couple yards of nylon, a zipper and a nice bag of down.

No, he really hasn't. Trust me, it's much less expensive to buy your clothes pre-made nowadays. She'd also need a sewing machine, (at least $199 for a decent one) so just buy her the coat.

Truthfully I'd prefer the nice down coat over jewlery.

If you like the jacket and the person buying it for you can see you use it frequently and you look good in it, a person would usually like to buy a gift like that for someone they care for.

Hey Y2, Got a Hilleberg Nammattj 2 today. You might have to show me how to set this damn thing up. Damn , you got a dog and a Bird this year. Things are looking up for you!!!

Hillbergs are just the best. I was looking at a Nallo 2, as the two person tent I've got weighs almost as much as the dog.

Yeah, I guess life's not so bad ;o)

I would like the down jacket. As a matter of fact, if she doesn't like it you can send it to me. I like the purple sage.

Seriously, I think the jacket is a very thoughtful gift. Even if she doesn't ever go hiking again she'll still get plenty of in-town use out of it. And if you ever go on a skiing trip or Alaskan cruise, she'll already be ready for it.
