Ok, winter is coming, or here, as is your birthday, and the wonderfully thoughtful man in your life decides to buy you a down jacket.
Would this one be good?

How serious are the two of you? It's a great gift if you have some history together but not a great gift if it's only been a little while. IMO.

Nice ambiguous answer there twig :o)

Well she keeps stealing mine when we go out at the moment, which is like a dozen sizes too big for her.

Well convenience is a factor, I've left it late and there's a patagonia store ten minutes walk from here :o)
Also her birthday comes just in time for her to decide what to get me for Christmas :o)

Well that's cool, too, I also looked at this one, but I think she needs warm rather than light.

Good man! Be sure to put a condom in one of the pockets just in case she may not fully realize the extent of her commitment when accepting said gift. Practice your surprised face and repeat, "Now how did THAT get in there?".

purple sage I'm thinking - maybe getting "approved by the women of TT" sewn in.

Nigal, yeah, but the jacket was a Mountain Hardwear Phantom. How's she going to know where it came from? To me, a MH Phantom screams !@#$ me now.

While you're out buying gifts for women, I'd like a few of these

IMHO...
Patagonia is one of the more ecologically responsible companies. Plenty of their stuff is made right here in the USA. Lots of it is either organic or recycled.
The few things I have that I could afford of theirs are top notch.
A friend has 20 yr old Patagonia long johns that have been worn & laundered hundreds of times and they still look and perform like new.
Sometimes you do get what you pay for.

I like the purple sage Patty too. BUT, if you go for one of the cheaper ones, you can buy her more stuff with the additional money you would have spent on the jacket. More gifts = more lovin'. :)

Patagonia makes really high quality stuff. I don't really care for the looks of the particular coat you've chossen but I know it'll be warm and well made and last for a long time if it's anything like the patagonia stuff I have. She may not appreciate it fully right away but she will in the long run for sure! It'll make a very nice gift.

Well, She probably won't realize how much it cost or how much thought you put into it, or that you didn't just click "buy it" on the internet thinking that it just would do. She just might think "oh, a coat, how nice" not realizing how very nice it is. Is she gear slut enough to know that patagonia is diamonds not czs?
