but... they weren't terrorists lipstick. They were a rogue nation led by brutal dictator, but Iraq wasn't a terror threat to America. You don't seem to be able to grasp the concept.

The Bush admin is still lying about connections between possible terrorism and Saddam Hussein. The flights of doubletalk are truly stupendous when they're called on it... never by the cheerleaders on Fox for some reason...

So many Bush fans simply have no idea what the reality of the situation is ---- and they don't want to know.

A terorist situation has been created by the invasion of Iraq, andwhatever the outcome of the elections you're going to see a more organized, more numerous and more dangerous global terror situation arise out of the debacle of Iraq. Maybe 100,000 troops should have been sent to Afganistan to capture Bin Laden and the rest of the 200 billion spent on Iraw could have gone to improving US se3curity on the borders and internally.

The lengths to which liberals will go to either ignore, be blissfully ignorant about, or just plain lie about what's going on in the world amazes me.

Runner-up calls for a new vote in Washington governor's race

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Republican Dino Rossi yesterday urged his Democratic rival in the closest governor's race in state history to join him in calling for a revote.
[...]
The Gregoire camp immediately dismissed the notion that a revote might be feasible. She is scheduled to be certified as Washington's governor-elect yesterday, by a scant 129 votes out of more than 2.8 million cast.

"It's irresponsible to spend $4 million in taxpayer money on a new election just because you don't like losing this one," Gregoire's spokesman Morton Brilliant said.

Violin, that's very nice of Gregoire to say she doesn't want to cost the taxpayers more money by voting again, but that is what she just did by asking for this last recount.

This is crazy. Rossi can have a recount and it can go in his favor again, and she can have another recount and it can go in her favor again. With the amount of percentage a counting can be off, they can keep going back and forth, one winning and the other losing. Where does it end?

I think the winner should have been Rossi. It may sound unfair since Gregoire won this count, but it took two counts for her to win, so basically she just kept asking for recounts until it turned in her favor.

Dino wants a revote, not a recount.

Rossi won twice. Gregoire won once. Rossi won two out of three, so he wins. Isn't that how it goes:)

WENATCHEE — Judge John Bridges yesterday upheld the election of Gov. Christine Gregoire, thoroughly rejecting Republican claims of wrongdoing and leading [Sore Loserman] Dino Rossi to forgo what the judge thought was an inevitable appeal to the state Supreme Court.
[...]
That brought to a close seven months of legal and political wrangling over the closest governor's election in the nation's history. There were two recounts, five lawsuits, millions of dollars spent by both political parties and a historic two-week trial here to determine who the legitimate winner was.

So, are you going to rant and rave for the next 6 years that the Supreme Court (of Washington) selected the new gov? Or are you going to let it go this time?

I don't know which is funnier, that Gore said he wants more fact-based analysis (coming from him, that's a knee-slapper), or the orgasmic writing of the Washington Post over the possibility of Gore running again

Run Al, Run!
Boston – A New Hampshire presidential poll by WHDH-TV and Suffolk University shows that local Democrats prefer Al Gore to any of the current contenders.

Hillary Clinton has a solid lead over the rest of the current Democratic field. The poll, released this afternoon, shows 37 percent of likely Democratic voters backing Clinton or leaning towards her. Barack Obama was at 19 percent, with both John Edwards and Bill Richardson at 9 percent.

Al Gore, however, could enter the race as the leader. When his name is added, Clinton loses more than a quarter of her support, while Gore is backed by 32 percent.

Now the Republicans...seeing that real conservative and REAL smaller government did work....they are trying to out dem the dems....

WTF? Un....okay..put the pipe down lets start again.

I have always called for less intrusive government (as per the 10th amendment)...but I have always been a proponent of strong support for defending the constitution and the citizens of the nation (AS PER THE CONSTITUTION).

Bush (for all the bad you can say) took action against a REAL THREAT to the nation. Clinton saw the office as a way to dodge Constitutional responsibility, and use it as an 8 year chance to get kickbacks and babes.

You very clearly indicated that writing laws is important , but checks and balances is not. The real threat to this country is being realized, right now, by gross over reaction to every thing that will allow a new agency, committee or anything else that enlarges government. As the US strands today, the biggest threat to this country is self distruction.

He also said that someone that doesn't do the job given to them inside their own branch of gov't shouldn't get paid...

... all the while Cheney & company are telling everyone that Cheney is suddenly not part of the executive branch. So after 231 years the VP position now isn't executive? Okee, dokey.

XL, right from the article you present:

Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., author of the amendment, said it was the logical outgrowth of the vice president's claim that his office was outside the scope of rules imposed on other executive offices.

"Perhaps the vice president thought he occupied an undisclosed fourth branch of government," Emmanuel said.

"agency" and "office" being interchangeable.
