Yeah, geez you silly Iraqis. We're there to "help" you. Why can't you be more grateful?

In a nutshell, yeah.

I'd be very glad to let the rest of the world take a crack at taking care of themselves. Death in Sudan? Sorry. Handle it. Civil war in east Europe? Handle it. Samali war lords gettin' froggy? You deal with it. North Korea cookin' up some nukes? Let Asia handle it.

Call the UN.

Nigal, I agree with ya. The US can't be the world police forever. It will catch up to us very soon if it hasn't already.

Bring them all home and protect those borders. Start sending all of those illegals back.

Lets hope no country ever decides to "help" america in the same way huh? Of course if there's ever a battle for your home town you'll have ample opportunity to get out Nigal. Leaving all your wolrdly goods and belongings behind. It's for you're own good you know.

Way to go fellow TTer. I think that you are taking your first baby steps to becoming an enlightened one. Would you like an application to be a charter member in my organization TTFAF (Trail Talkers For America First)? I'll post a syllabus if interested.

Nigal, those four Americans crispy critters that got strung up on the bridge were hired mercenaries. And stupid ones too!
They drove down that road in a Toyota Landcruiser. This isn't the Belgian Congo in 1960 Nigal. These natives don't run when they see the white Bhawnas ride by with their sunglasses and Kelvar vests on. And if someone will tell me how to imbed a picture into a thread I'll drown this place with ghastly images of collateral damage caused by us. Stuff FOX News will never show you.

See this is the deal SH. Because I don’t fall in lockstep behind the Bush haters I automatically get painted as a groveling Bush disciple. Sounds a lot like Bush’s “you’re either with me or against me” quote, yes? Many of my views go against the republican grain. I have many criticisms of the Bush administration and I do voice them. Hell, on the political polarization tests I come out almost dead in the middle. But no one ever sees this, recognizes this or even gives any credit for it because I’m not a Bush hater.

There are a lot of things we would agree on and even more you’d be surprised about. But everyone writes off as a Dittohead. Oh well, to each his own.

Not long after I read those few posts extolling the virtues of isolationism, I heard an interview with Dr. Jeffrey Sachs about the UN Millennium Project.

He was explaining how the extreme poverty and the desperation that goes along with it is what makes the world such a dangerous place. He said the US spends about 14 cents of every 100 budgetary dollars on foreign aid while spending about $4.50 out of every 100 on the military. He said that if we, along with the other developed countries, would only raise the first number to 70 cents, within a generation we'd be able to cut back dramatically on military spending because the world would be so much safer and more stable.

Makes a lot of sense to me.

We just went through an election where much was said about 'values' and 'security' but next to nothing about poverty. I know what the scriptures have to say about the matter and if there really were a new influence of religion on politics, I'd think ending world suffering would be front and center politically.

I wonder if this is something Bush will be willing to spend some of that political capital on.
