Went up to "The Loch" today - this trail would be one of my favorites so far in RMNP, it follows that contour in the pic around and then cuts up between to huge massifs eventually topping out over a narrow gap and BAM, theres the lake in front of you and on the far side of the lake (about 2 miles on) is the Continental Divide.”

The Loch - in the background center is Andrews Glacier, up high in the low spot between the peaks. Looks like its got a HUGE cornice built up on the top.

planning on doing a couple of summits on the Divide next weekend - we had wanted to descend down the glacier, however, if its corniced that option is out and we'll probably descend down that long ridge you see to the right of the lake and come down pretty much back to where I was standing when i took that last shot.”

“visiting you in CO sometime this year would probably be easier than trying to plan a whirlwind tour of Idaho when I have little spending cash and mucho issues to resolve on the home front. I'll see what I can do to get out there. Hopefully join you on the trail sometime soon.”
