Of course, we don't have to use the group site at Blue Bend...we could always just invade get sites in the normal campground...

That was what we did last year and it made it a little difficult.

The group site at the first proposed campground would be perfect. It is off by itself with nothing nearby.

Mmm, okay, I buy that argument. But still, it will suck to have to sherpa drinking water from the other campground.

Wait, <smacks self in head> What am I thinking? No one will be drinking water!

BINGO!

To reiterate, I want to get a group campsite where we can relax and not have to worry about other campers. That is the primary consideration that I am pursuing. There will be water and pit toilets in one group campground, so we will have to rig up showers, which my son is very adept at. The upside to this is that we would have the place to ourselves by renting the entire campground. I hope to communicate with the man who manages the campgrounds and discuss this with him.

He is not an ogre. He's actually a wonderful guy, as is his wife. But he insists in quiet campgrounds, and realizing how our group is, I don't think it would be a good fit.

It will take some time, but we will find out what works best for everybody.

wait you are suggesting we rent the whole campground?
if this is the case,

Go for it Geo! Just tell whoever picks me up at the airport where to take me. I just need to know where the big beer cooler is.

I believe all campgrounds have quiet rules.

How about we just keep the hell quiet when we have to?

Oh sure, go for the easy, obvious solution...

I might have to trade this trip for Glacier in August...I can see WV anytime but Glacier is a rariety....I have enough vacation for both...but we pick week by week by seniority...so if I pick July/WV first I might not get the time in August for Glacier. Hopefully no one will pick either and I'll get both. I'd still love to come.

i've heard that the flu in July can be a real beyatch to get over - takes several days sometimes...

besides, this trip is a weekender isn't it?

I'm looking at four days, as we did at Ithaca last summer. Still waiting for a call-back from my main man in all this.

Stick with what ever the hell that site was Geo.

We can just crack a few heads if things get too loud.

The NY rangers weren't able to crack any of those heads last summer, so I don't think anybody in our group stands much chance of doing it this summer.

I still have to talk to the guy who manages the campgrounds. It will be either Stuart or Jess Judy in Smoke Hole, whichever Dean decides is best for us. I'm not so naive to think folks are going to be absolutely quiet from 10 p.m. on, and I'm not going to get thrown out of a campground because somebody does not get it.

About 640 miles for me to that one.

I spoke to the wife about it. She isn't interested in going, but will let me go. (Yeehaw!)

I have a pretty good car camping setup, including a large screen tent that's great for bug-free lounging.

I might even have a pop-up by then, but I doubt if I will tow it 640 miles for this shindig.

Geo, I think we can control the noise. I know last year we had a few issues, but that was beacuse we had others nearby. This is more a group camp setting. I don't know what the site is like at Stuart, but it looks like it is pretty well seperated from the single sites.

I have not looked at the other place you listed above yet.

I think we should be fine.

Way to go Bit! You bringing the hookers this year? Zac had a flosck of them last year at his site. He wouldn't share.

Stuart has water and Jess Judy does not.

Hookers
No, no hookers, sorry.

We need to get some of the college-age folks to bring their female friends. Not that they are hookers, or even on the same level, of course. But, well, whatever.

I will shut up now.

Geo's right yall - there is no way in the world that this group will be quiet enough after 10:00 pm to satisfy any authority figures that might care about such things.

I like the group site thing. Both campgrounds has this feature available. I have used sites like this before and they rock.

That map above Maple is the Judy campground, right?

Stuart has only one

Did anyone get thrown out last summer?

NO!

There were a few loud-mouths who had to be shushed, let them get thrown out.

Most of us who stayed up late drank and talked quietly.

We would be foolish not to go to the site with water.

My vote is for Stuart!

Jess Judy is in the middle of nowhere.
Stuart is fairly close to Elkins which has more in the way of groceries, etc.

Stuart is 5-6 mles from Elkins, Jess Judy is twice that distance from Petersburg.

Petersburg has a Food Lyin' store and that's about it.

Elkins has a Kroger and Walmart(I think there's a Walmart) and possibly more.

MarkO, I'm aware of all that. As I said, I will discuss with Dean, the area campground manager, what works best. When I hear from Dean, I will post what the choices and considerations are. Then we will have to make up our minds.
