Galyan\'s bought by Dick\'s Sporting Goods
There is a half page ad in our local paper here in Michigan the Galyans has been bought by Dick\'s Sporting Goods.
Stores in Alabama, Colorado, Geogia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachuseets, Michigan,
Minnesota, Missouri, Neveda, New York, Ohio, Texas, Utah and Virginia
10-50% off.
There are some exclusions, Northface, Merrell, Marmot were a few brand names related to hiking.

Down in Indianapolis they have already renamed two of the stores to "Dick's" and are in the process of closing a third one.
When I was down there a few weeks ago I ask one of the store employees and he said they were told the only real change was gonna be the name, they were still gonna sell pretty much the same brands etc.
We'll see I suppose.

Further reports indicate the new company will be called "Gay D!cks"

Galyan's was much better than Dick's. Thank God we have a Gander Mountain in Indy to offset the loss of Galyan's.

It's Officially Destroyed.
Well, just checked out Galyans and now it says "Dicks Sporting Goods" on the door. The inside echoed of an overpriced Sport Mart. Hardly any backpacking gear whatsoever. They even got rid of kayaks when they have a pond out back to test them. The Benchmark in Columbus closed two years ago. Now the only decent chain store with backpacking gear is gone. That leaves two small, limited, and extremely overpriced ma and pa stores in Columbus. I swear I'll never buy anything at Dick's

I love small ma and pa backpacking stores!

They're just too overpriced for me. The one near the Lennox on campus sells Enertia meals for $5 each! You can get them from Enertia online with free shipping for $3 each!

Can't you just do a visual inspection for holes?

Dub, but you can't pick them up, read the labels, and fondle them online.

Dicks is a white trash version of Galyans. Thank God we have a Gander Mountain in Indy or we'd be up shlt creek too.
