First thing I do is check in online with my Probation Officer. That pretty much dictates what I'll do next. Damn ankle bracelets.

unless the company changes its policy on 20 June 2009 I will be able to retire (its the day I turn 60) - of course what I want is a SERO but unless the economy bits the big one again that is not too likely

This is a pretty neat site,,it provides B/W aerial photos of certain areas in the U.S.. this one in particular is of a friends farm in Indiana.

http://terraserver-usa.com/image.aspx?t=1&s=12&x=830&y=5395&z=16&w=2

Does anybody know any more similiar sites?

I hit my email about once a day and do some online banking and hit the intellicast.com from time to time.

Forum wise this is my primary,, I have ventured on to some firearm and taxidermy forums.

Presently I've been hitting up some shopping websites for X-max gifts.

And googling anything and everything.

Do you shoot 'em, then stuff 'em.
Or stuff 'em, then shoot 'em?

Well I should have included some hunting website also but to answer your question Manuka I prefer to shoot and stuff. I have yet to venture any further than the old school brain tanning and smoking of hides but someday I will try to taxi' a deer.

Presently I'm redoing some old(1800's) cane bottom chairs with buckskin for the dining room table. And I got a bunch of deer hoofs that are destine to be guns mounts and/or something Native like hoof rattles.

Briar Rabbit
The first deer I got with bow and arrow was quite late at night. So opened the chest cavity and packed with ice (Fall - warm weather) as all deer must be checked at a deer check station in NJ.

Next morning my 2 (v small) kids run out to see the deer daddy got. 1st "Oh gross" on seeing the carcass. 2nd "daddy can I have its skin as a rug".

Looked into doing my own but did not like the chemicals with small children about, so sent them away for curing -hair on.

Did have a woman over one Christmas party who looked horrified at seeing one of the rugs on the floor "Oh no, not Bambi", I made a show of checking it and replied "Nah, it is either Donner or Cupid", she did not like that reply either.

Forgot to mention

www.trailjournals.com

and

http://www.fred.net/kathy/at/journal.html

I read through various trail journals almost every day during lunch, or when work is slow. My favorite journal poster is Spur, who I have been following for years. He posts his journals at trailjournals, but has his own seperate home page here: http://www.spursjournal.com/

He's done the AT several times, the PCT, and is just finishing up the CDT. Started doing a small section of the AT in 2000 and suddenly (spur-of-the-moment) decided to extend it to a thruhike. Hasn't stopped hiking since.

That reminds me of one Christmas Eve party at my uncle's house a few years ago. One of the food dishes was a venison roast. My father, being a smart ass, put a cherry tomato on the roast and told everyone it was Rudolf.

or ... place a few raisins on the roast, wait until the guest are there and sweep them off saying "doesnt matter the oven heat will have killed off any bacteria?"

Another favorite when I was house hunting earlier this year. Look up the stats on any house in MD, any county. Square footage, acreage, last sale price, plot (click link at top right after looking up the property). Very useful after I found a house listing I liked. But, only good for MD.

Yeah, it is. I intend to spend every Friday hiking and spent all last Friday reading about other people hiking! But I learned a lot. AND hiked Sunday, so my time off wasn't a total loss, just that my goal is two long hikes each weekend.
