lizs, lizs, lizs.....
I have not yet moved or even put in for the upcoming job.
Still thinking and trying to decide if I want it.
Sounds like there's several TTers within 3 hours of this place. That's a heck of a lot closer than any now.

Thank you all for your comments.
It's helping me to decide.
Time will tell.

I had a nice breakfast for lunch at the local Waffle House. Got me to thinking, no grits up there. Serious negative.

There's a certain Southern thread that's woven through Wisconsin's Northwoods population -- they're called Kentucks. There's even a Kentuck Lake up in Vilas County, just to the north of me along the U.P. border. You can hear the twang in a few voices now and then. Just follow the bear hunters' trucks with the plywood hound hutches on the back.

what you talking about LizS..Wafflehouse is the cholestrol capital of the world..can't get any better than 3 eggs over easy, sausage, grits, pancakes with lots of butter and syrup, a big bowl of grits, toast with jam/jelly and 4-5 cups of good coffee....yum..now that is a breakfast

It's even better if you have that for lunch, Ewker. ;-)

I like Wafflehouse. Good food, greasy prices. Waitresses all have that bored, slack-jawed, this-is-as-good-as-it-will-ever-get look. If you look closely on your plate you can generally figure out what the folks before you had for breakfast. Yup, my kind of place. Up here we have dogs to lick the plates clean 8).

pekka - I took one or more pictures at Kentuck Lake last June. Guess I should finish that TR and post the pictures.

You probably know the story. They stocked the lake and put a minimum size of 30 inches on the Walleyes and only one to a person. Figured that it would take about five years for the fish to grow to that trophy size. So about that time the Indians moved in with their dark houses and pretty well cleaned out all the large walleyes. Now they figured that it will take another five years to get some great walleyes for fishing. I doubt if they have figured out how to keep the Indians from harvesting them again.

If you're interested.
Marinette Marine has released some videos of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS-1) class they are building in the shipyard at Marinette.

"Any TTers near Marinette, Wisconsin?" Why? It's too early for the white fish to be running on the Menominee River.

Interesting! It looks real nice. More detail on their devices and weapons would be interesting.

Looks real nice in calm water. Makes me wonder how well it would operate in rough seas running 50 feet or higher.

The U. S. Navy doesn't want our enemies to know to much. That is sanctified PR.

I'm a couple of hours from there. When I was in HS I lived an hour away from Marinette where the drinking age was still 18......
