Searching for this now for hours...I am so done for tonight. lol” 4:22:35 PM 12/12/04 dammit... “ ![]() bad part is that I know what font this is, but I cna't think of it...i am gonna smack myself later after I find it. last edited: 12/12/04 4:39:59 PM” 4:38:23 PM 12/12/04 “no one huh? okay then... #&%!$ it...let me get the wine then. Will work on this tomorrow. :(” 5:16:18 PM 12/12/04 “I would like to know how to add fonts, too. I don't have Times on the home PC.” 5:47:10 PM 12/12/04 “Wine! Hmmmm. Should be easy to find the font. It appears that the first "i" is missing the dot, unless the letter is part of a distorted "h." ![]() While checking for words beginning with "afh," I discovered this beautiful dog. Life is full of pleasant surprises. Affenpinscher last edited: 12/12/04 5:49:01 PM” 5:47:37 PM 12/12/04 “liz, this is not times, it's not any font I have on this computer. Nowslimmer the first I not missing the dot, the letters are very close together. the loops in the letters and the way the "a" is shaped..is giving me problems... i have many that are very close, but not exactelly the same. nowlslimmer, want to know why they call that poor dog affenpinscher...it translates into: monkey pinsher. last edited: 12/12/04 6:08:55 PM” 6:06:16 PM 12/12/04 “Try your luck. I came up with more than 30 possible fonts. If you have a few more characters, it might help. Suggest you avoid guessing, they will bring up a lot more questions as you go along. Find Font by Sight From the link under the dog: "Originating in Germany, the name Affenpinscher means, "monkey-like terrier". The breed was developed to rid the kitchens, granaries, and stables of rodents. In France the breed is described as the "Diablotin Moustachu" or moustached little devil." A lot of stuff came up with google that might tell more. "The Affenpinscher is characterized by his monkeyish expression." last edited: 12/12/04 7:32:15 PM” 7:24:33 PM 12/12/04 “okay, I think I am blind now...can't find it. thanks nowslimmer, but I am done looking for tonight. It's not on the font.com site. :(” 8:07:25 PM 12/12/04 “Hope you find it, Gem. I didn't say it was times, but that I'd like to know how to add the times font (or any font) to my fonts on the computer. I know -- kinda -- how to do it on the Mac, but not on the PC.” 8:33:22 PM 12/12/04 lizs “Installing new fonts in Windows. Open Fonts folder and choose Install New Font from the File menu. The Add Fonts dialog box should appear. Use the Drives and Folders sections of the dialog box to indicate where the fonts you want to install are currently stored. The names of all fonts available for installation will then appear in the top section of the dialog box. Choose Select All if you want to install the whole lot. To install particular fonts, hold down the Ctrl key while you select the fonts you want. When you're finished selecting fonts, click OK. In a moment your new fonts will appear in your Fonts folder and will be available for use in your programs. OR use Drag and Drop to install. Get two folders on the screen, the folder with the new font and the Fonts folder. Then drag the new font's icon over to the Fonts folder. last edited: 12/12/04 8:57:50 PM” 8:55:35 PM 12/12/04 “I am so done!! didn't find it... i'll tell him to take HIS original font, and as soon as my downstairs computer is working I'll fix it. i am blind...my eyes hurt from searchign fonts. lol” 12:34:36 AM 12/13/04 “Next question, where do you find the fonts? Are there free ones available, or do you have to buy a package. I am a font virgin. lololol” 7:53:47 AM 12/13/04 “You're a font of useless information.” 7:59:25 AM 12/13/04 “There are free ones available.. I've downloaded several.” 8:01:14 AM 12/13/04 “You have to pay for "brand name" fonts but there are free font sites online. Just google up "free fonts." Some of them are kinda crappy but there are some really good fontographers (yes, that is what a font designer is called) out there. I manage my fonts with Adobe Type Manager. Much easier and much more control.” 8:05:32 AM 12/13/04 8:12:59 AM 12/13/04 “I recall having Adobe Type Manager on a Mac at a previous job. Don't have it on the Mac where I work now. Anyway, is it just used on Macs, or on PCs, too? (ya know, I was always gonna ask about fonts on here, then figured, no, got nothing to do with backpacking and is waaaay specialized, so why do it? But since Gemini asked, hey, I'm gonna take advantage of this. :-) _” 9:02:44 AM 12/13/04 “ATM is Mac/PC.” 9:13:04 AM 12/13/04 “heehee, I have tried to find it. Could be that I missed it though because...well eyes started hurting after looking at all those dang fonts. I know I have to pay for them if I find it. LOL Oh, I forgot...it's a PC font. I have a huge cd with Adobe fonts, searching throught that one too... for now he's happy with another font I used. ( never liked his "logo" in the first place...but hey...) And I am using adobe typemanager deluxe, but the font is on the OTHER computer. Thanks guys! last edited: 12/13/04 10:08:47 AM” 10:00:54 AM 12/13/04 “Try Lucida. It's not the exact font, but it might jog your memory.” 10:34:24 AM 12/13/04 “thanks matt...i may just be some lucida version. I'll check it right now. not it!! wrong "a' again. i may just exchange the "a" hmmmm woah...the "a" changed in italic mode... have never realized that before... hmm...maybe that would work... last edited: 12/13/04 10:46:08 AM” 10:37:29 AM 12/13/04 “just thought i'll let you all know..I FOUND IT. Dang, am I glad that this is over with. hey...still finished early!! Freaked out for no reason!” 12:22:05 PM 12/13/04 “You do that a lot.” 12:48:33 PM 12/13/04 “She's a freak...” 1:03:11 PM 12/13/04 “super freak!! didn't know that? tsss...everyoen else knows!” 1:05:29 PM 12/13/04 “I stand corrected !!” 1:06:14 PM 12/13/04 “For those of us who work with fonts one of the Art Directors here at work found this site http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ What the font allows you to upload an image of a font and it will scan it and match it to a known font. It does have some limitations though. It doesn't like characters to touch each other and the sample needs to be horizontal. Pretty cool stuff.” 8:45:08 AM 3/02/05 “That's awesome! Thanks packmule.” 5:32:29 PM 3/02/05 “Here's a font help question. How do I change the font style/color when I'm posting?” 5:55:09 PM 3/02/05 “With an HTML font tag.” 7:14:59 PM 3/02/05 “What does that mean? I don't speak computerease HPM. I am quite possibly the least computer literate person I know.” 8:25:53 PM 3/02/05 “you must wrap the text you want to mess with inside of a opening and closing font tag. Like so type the text you want to affect renders as: type the text you want to affect when you replace all the brackets with less than and greater than symbols. color can either be natural language for the basic color (red blue green black white etc) or hex color (#000000 -zeros- is black, #FFFFFF is white, #0000FF is a shade of blue) size is 1 smallest to 6 largest face is the font family (Ariel, times new roman, georgia, verdana) Keep in mind that the end user can only see fonts that they have installed in their machine. last edited: 3/02/05 10:05:40 PM” 10:05:17 PM 3/02/05
