i just ordered my new home gymView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 18 of 18 messages posted.
“im so excited. no parking 5 blocks away from the gym and waiting for the new years resolutioners to get out of my way this year. i got a body solid power rack with a hi/low pulley attatchment. a full motion bench with leg attatchment, some weights, db handles, curl bar, and i also ordered a concept2 rowing machine. it was a tough decision about the dumbell handles. i got a set that takes olympic weights and i think each can take 150# but it might be a PITA changing them all the time. it cost a lot less than buying a couple racks of dumbells though. im also stoked about the rowing machine. i've been testing them out and this concept2 is by far the best thing out there.” 2:24:47 PM 12/13/04 “Congrats. Put it to good use. I had a home gym (not as big as yours) once....worked out with it for a year or so....then let it collect dust. :o( Finally sold it, since it was taken up so much space. I guess that's why gyms are still around....other people around for motivation.” 3:11:31 PM 12/13/04 “I have a concept2 (old style). That thing will kick your backside. I don’t think there is a better device to get your heart rate up fast. Warning: Start with to hard and fast of a routine and you may develop shoulder problems. I did as did my hubby. Building those muscles with free weights cured the problem.” 3:16:40 PM 12/13/04 “the concept2 was the first model i looked at. i have never been on a rowing machine before that. i spent 10 minutes at a moderate pace in the store and had a little stiffness the next day. i can't wait til it gets here. i also checked out the water rower and a machine by schinne(outrigger?). the other machines didn't catch right away on the backpull. i didn't like it much, messed up the rhythm. im thinkin about a cheapo bike too. it's gonna feel so good after the first of the year to not have to fight those crowds.” 3:21:00 PM 12/13/04 “Maybe it’s just me but the women in spandex are good for motivation. Your home gym doesn’t come with a few of those, does it?” 3:39:34 PM 12/13/04 “good point” 4:18:46 PM 12/13/04 “Ductape, sounds like a great setup. I love the concept2 rowers. I use one from time to time and get an amazing workout. If I had the space (and money) I'd buy one. I think the same company makes a rower that has a setup that sim ulates kayaking, that'd be great. Have fun and enjoy the convenience of home.” 5:01:42 PM 12/13/04 Home gym = less laundry “Working out nude means I wash fewer clothes. Not recommended at a commercial gym.” 5:07:01 PM 12/13/04 “lol@ mtn gal Also means you can cuss up a bloody storm when you drop a 25# plate on your toes and no one looks at you like you're an idiot!!! Ductape - sounds like a sweet setup!” 8:18:35 PM 12/13/04 “My old boyfriend got rid of his livingroom furniture and he bought a Universal gym, which was one piece with all the different attachements around it. It was great, and worked with the key that you put in for how much weight you wanted to lift. Hubby got a gym with no key system, so I couldn't be bothered changing the weights, and he stopped using it. I definitely would go with weights using the key.” 8:49:22 PM 12/13/04 congrats... “but, why don't you use your canoe a bit more and get the rowing in the natural way....there's nothing like a weekend of paddling to build up the shoulders, back, arms, legs and most importantly the mind. No comparrison to the in home gym...although I'm not paddlin now, and am using the in home gym, I am backpackin as much as I canoed...and your single with no kids...same boat as me...call me sometime you bum.” 10:41:57 PM 12/13/04 “if i would be single and no kids...i would be out every freaking weekend for sure... no guilt, you can do whatever you like...please...what ya doign at home?” 10:52:11 PM 12/13/04 “can't be busy just cause i got no kids? i made the decision to work mostly on weekends so i could have during the week to focus on schoolwork. it's worked, i'm pulling a 4.0, but i do regret it every weekend. things won't be different until march. i've been saving a few classes so i can have a nice easy spring quarter. that quarter will be all internet based classes so i'll have to go to class for exams only.” 10:55:04 PM 12/13/04 I remember you when... “all you wanted to be when you grew up was a pizza delivery boy. I complement you on wanting to be an adult...shmuck!. kidding...sheesh...a bit sensitive aren't you, but then again, who am I to apologize for a clean bashing...hehehe. I hope you'll come out to play a little when the opportunity can...and Gemini...you already know how much I'm in love with you. hehehe...Hows your dad?” 11:11:58 PM 12/13/04 “i sure wish i'd have done the school thing when i lived under someone else's roof. probably could have gotten a lot of it paid for back then too. and who said anything about wanting to be an adult? funny thing, i started delivering again on friday. doing that 3 days a week now, and reffing basketball as much as i can.” 11:41:50 PM 12/13/04 ahhhhhhhhhh.... “thats the ducttape that I remember.” 11:53:00 PM 12/13/04 got everything today “it got here way sooner than i expected. i still have to sand and paint the room it's all going in. i did put the rower together in the living room though. it might end up staying there. it's not too loud. i could see myself using it when im watching the soprano's at 9 o'clock every night.” 4:49:42 PM 12/16/04 have fun... “DT...I find it very rewarding to crank it out after work. just remember, don't do the same excercises every night...vary it up. The only muscle that can take an everyday work out are the abs and your pekker...LOL. Hope to catch ya soon.” 3:14:51 PM 12/19/04
