Police determined the Salem County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit accidentally left the dynamite in the school last Friday following a training exercise, according to Lt. Burl Kimble. Typically, K-9 handlers will hide fuseless sticks of dynamite or other devices inside already-cleared buildings as a reinforcement training aid for bomb-sniffing dogs, according to officials. "Whenever they search a building like that, they have to put something out there for the dog to find," explained Cumberland County Sheriff Michael Barruzza. Police do not believe the stick of dynamite posed a threat to students or staff at the kindergarten-through-eighth-grade school. "There was no fuse and no detonation device," said Sgt. Michael Pastirko. The fuseless stick of dynamite was discovered in an empty storage container inside room B-1 of the school around 8:30 a.m. by kindergarten teacher Joan Soone, according to Ptl. Harold Watkins' investigation report. The Salem County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit forgot to retrieve the device from inside Soone's classroom last Friday following a multi-agency sweep for a bomb then reported to have been inside the school, police said. continued...” 1:05:17 PM 12/17/04 “Look ma, I found a flare.....I'm going to light it...woohoo.” 2:34:50 PM 12/17/04 Terrorist Go BOOM “Suicide bomber falls down stairs ... From correspondents in Khost, Afghanistan January 24, 2008 12:39pm Article from: Agence France-PresseFont A WOULD-be suicide bomber fell down a flight of stairs and blew himself up as he headed out for an attack in Afghanistan, police say. It was the second such incident in two days, with another man killing himself and three others on Tuesday when his bomb-filled waistcoat exploded as he was putting it on in the southern town of Lashkar Gah. Yesterday's blast was in a busy market area of the eastern town of Khost, a deputy provincial police chief said. The would-be attacker tripped as he was leaving a building apparently to target an opening ceremony for a mosque that was expected to be attended by Afghan and international military officials, said Sakhi Mir. "Coming down the stairs, he fell down and exploded. Two civilian women and a man were wounded,'' Mir said. Suicide attacks are regular feature of an insurgency led by the extremist Taliban movement that was in government between 1996 and 2001. The most deadly was in November 2007 and killed nearly 80 people, most of them school students. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,23101330-1702,00.html?from=public_rss” 6:32:13 PM 1/23/08 “This has more to do with Mississippi than New Jersey.
