“bonus - I wish! I work for the government, we don't get bonuses. We haven't had a COLA for a few years either.

We can't get paid OT, but NO COMP TIME! Which ticks me off more than anything...we used to get comp time...one year I got about 60 hours comp time.

That's ok...when I refuse to work this weekend, they'll fire me.

“Love my job every day I am working (equine veterinary medicine) however it would be nice to have a semi normal schedule around the holidays. Unfortunetly horses can't figure out the whole weekend/holiday thing as days of rest or relaxation. So as usual, I am on call. Happy Holidays to everyone.”

“The plant I work for will be on thier Christmas shutdown. This means the maintenance dept. must work during this period. Shutdowns are the only time we can't take off. On the other side we can take our vacations any other time. Production workers must take their vacation time during the shutdowns. Christmas, Christmas eve, and New-years are holidays. I should at least get those off. Its a posibility we may get a weekend off also.

“I'll be at the Suwannee River in Florida 12 -26 until 12 - 30. I'll be staying at Suwannee River State Park. I'll be daytriping from there up and down river hiking and paddling. I make this trip every year to photograph the river. There will be a few folks from the Florida Trail there, Mostly day tripers. Everyone who would like to come down are welcome. I can shuttle you up river and you can paddle back or you can hike the Florida trail which follows the river for about 50 miles. Some come down and daytrip with me to do the Photography thing. Anyone who would like to make the trip drop me some mail or post.”

“My one day off a year falls on my day off this year so I won't have an actual holiday off for two years. But New Years Eve falls on my day off for the next two years and it's been four years sense I've been home for NYE. I'm going to go buy four or five bottles of Chimay and whoop it up!”

“Lots o' work for me that week. But Friday's a holiday, and I'm taking Thursday off to head up to the Eastern Sierra. On Friday, we ski in to the Tioga Pass Resort for 2 nights - woo hoo!!”

“Even though I have the time off, I may gather up the laptop and some project stuff and haul it home. If I don't, I'll come up short real early in January and I'll be regretting it.
I still get vacation, though--leaving for Tahoe with family early Sunday for a day of snowshoeing with other TTers, then on to the lake for two nights in cheap-but-lakeside accommodations and more snowshoeing. Then home, Christmas, a good friend coming to stay with us, some work, and Winterfest. I love being in the snow!”
