Susan (CARDA) decided to leave her dogs home. I don't have a problem at all, either would most folks I think....but she won't be allowed in the Tipi for safety reasons. We have enough of a problem keeping people from knocking the stove over, LOL.

“it has been snowing on off all day but not sticking to the road. however the road is not plowed from the houses to mcbride. you will be breaking through. Rod was just there and was breaking trail w/his F150. It may be plowed by tonight/tomorrow it may not be. If you don't have a high clearance car you won't make it up to mcbride. also do not park on the road (park in turnouts) you will get plowed over or into and/or towed/ticketed. there is 2 feet of fresh heavy powder.”

The current plan for Winterfest is to park near McBride Springs on the Everitt Memorial Hwy, about 4 miles out of Mt Shasta. Camp will be set up near the parking lot.”

“With all the (necessary) changes I just wanted to know the latest without scrolling back through a lot of "maybe's" & risk missing it. I "officially" bowed out, however I want to come up on Saturday & leave on Sunday if I can make it work, but am unsure so didn't want to plan rides, etc., & have others count on me when my sched us so tentative.

“If anyone that's going hasn't left yet, Just let Steve know that I'm not going to make it. In Truckee we are getting dumped on! 3 feet of snow is my guess today and another 2 or 3 feet tonight. It's total caos and gridlock in this little town with all the tourists for New Years and the skiers! Hwy 80 has been closed on and off yesterday and today causing all sorts of problems. It would probably take me 2 hrs just to get out of my area and over Donner Pass.

Great friends (new and old), MtnSteve and his Tipi (great to finally meet ya Steve! You really know how to put on a party! I actually had leftover Hot Damn... How could that have happened??? :-), perfect snow (well.. maybe a bit more than we bargained for... Next time Sandyann does her snow dance, be prepared!), great stories (Sandyann and I have no choice but to be at Winterfest 2006 to hear the repeat of the Purple Pickle), celebrating 2005 by each time zone and waking up snuggled warm and toasty in my 0 degree bag while the morning snow softly and quietly welcomed in the New year.

Driving home, I was totally worried about the Siskiyou Summit on I-5, but that was a piece of cake. It was the unexpected snow storm north of Medford in the dark (with no one passing me and letting me lead through the snow probably thinking that the person in the F150 4X4 must know snow.... little did they know!) that made me wish I would have stopped at that Chevron with the facilities!!

Now... back to reality... WET gear everywhere! And then there is that Christmas tree still in the living room..
