Oh...and if ya have young kids, may I suggest the game "Guess Who" I bought one to entertain Tori with and she loved it...( we had one when my kids were small and they LOVED it...we wore it out!!!)”

As for Christmas I like to get my shopping out of the way early. However, I do like to head out more towards the holiday to soak up the hustle bustle. But only for a couple of hours at the most.”

“The kidlets carved their pumpkins last weekend - course temps are in the low 30s here, so pumpkins last a while.

There is also a place locally that carves a couple hundred pumpkins and lights them every night until Halloween. It's really cool and we look forward to it each year. I might have some pictures from last year to link to...

I hate shopping and I really hate shopping when there's a mob. The only time it's fun during the holiday season is at The Christmas Tree Shops when it's wall to wall people and everyone just laughs and pokes around in other people's shopping carts asking where they found that wonderful tacky thing. I wish more women would leave their husbands home though - could they take up any more room?!

“Yep/ we reuse paper. Some gifts are wrapped in paper that has been around for several seasons. wearing thin.
More recently we started using cloth, like bandanaS OR towels or dishclothes... for my brothers it is always newspaper and crayons. the goal is to try to package it in such a way that its identity is disquised and the minimum of tape is used... so string comes in handy...

“A Christmas Story - The Angel

When four of Santa ' s elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure.

Then Mrs Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where.

Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered.

Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drunk all the cider and hidden the liquor. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom.

Just then the doorbell rang, and irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree. The angel said very cheerfully, "Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where do you want me to stick it?"

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.
