Who else wants to share? “I'll admit, although I do love backpacking, my prime motivation for doing it is photography. Who else here shares my love of photography? I'd love to see your stuff. I KNOW Lizs is a great photographer. Everybody, I'll show you mine if you show me yours. http://www.frontiernet.net/~electech/ last edited: 12/19/04 8:46:23 AM” 8:45:10 AM 12/19/04 “Some scanned from prints, some from negative, some digital. Mostly Photo Albums, some trip logs with photo albums, rare trip logs without.” 8:47:18 AM 12/19/04 “nice stuff hobbit.” 8:52:55 AM 12/19/04 “hehehehe, aw shucks. *blushing* For those who don't know, Hobbit and I spearheaded the "pass-around camera" project a few years back. (I know some people who are still mad the one camera got lost and didn't get to them! lol) Hobbit, a ton of photo albums are listed on this thread: http://www.thebackpacker.com/trailtalk/thread/17451,-1.php And now Matt also has a more prominent photo album section available on this website. last edited: 12/19/04 10:58:32 AM” 10:57:45 AM 12/19/04 “Hobbit, you've got FARM stuff?!???! You're moving into my area now, Buster. lol Like your stuff. Your "mittens" shot reminded me that I shot in Monument Valley in 2000 and NEVER got those slides developed. Probably ruined by now, but I think I know where they are and probably should get them developed... somewhere cheap, in case there is nothing. WAAAAH!! That was such a beautiful area!!” 11:03:25 AM 12/19/04 “Beautiful shots there...I just wish they were captioned! Photography...It's the main thing I do outside..here are my photo albums... http://community.webshots.com/user/mataharihiker last edited: 12/19/04 1:01:18 PM” 12:55:29 PM 12/19/04 “hobbit, great pictures. Not so sure about your pictures being amateur though.” 12:57:19 PM 12/19/04 “I only have a handful of my photos uploaded (low res of my high res photos), but here it is....(Still working on a lot of photos to put onto my webshots albums).. I encourage you to leave a commment at the guest books on my webshots page! (feedback is much appreciated!) http://community.webshots.com/user/pinkbubelz last edited: 12/19/04 2:06:31 PM” 2:06:11 PM 12/19/04 “Nice pics, hobbit®, and everyone else! I LOVE looking at backpacking photos. Although photography is definitely not the main reason I explore the wilderness, I do love trying to capture what I see to share with others the beauty of places. None of us will ever get the chance to see all the places we'd like, so it's nice to share and nice to view such places. I take WAY too many photos. Here's a few online albums of mine. I just got back 32 rolls of new slides I'm sorting through now and will scan in the next few days/weeks/months, whenever I get a chance to do it. http://www.photo.net/photodb/user?user_id=660865 I have four albums here, you gotsta click on the link of each album to view them. http://www.photo.net/photodb/user?user_id=440371 Here's my alias "Buck Forester" Photo.net site, which has 5 albums. http://photobucket.com/albums/1003/BuckForester/?action=logout I use Photobucket as a place to dump some pics for linking and telling stories, so there's like 25 pages of pics, many of them similar (somtimes I scan a few similar ones and see which I prefer and I'm too lazy to delete the other ones). http://photobucket.com/albums/v512/BuckForester2/?action=logout Same thing, just a storage bin for stories. http://community.webshots.com/album/136228354PSTZXd I started a Webshots account but I haven't added anything recently, I'm so neglectful. I also have a few clandestine photo albums at the CIA, NSA, FBI, NASA, The Council On Foreign Relations, The Illuminati, Skull & Bones Society, The Trilateral Commission, Area 51 aka Groom Lake aka Dreamland, the Bigfoot Research Organization, Project Blue Book, and the Pentagon (among a few others which I can't even mention), but you need special super duper top-secret clearance to view those. Don't even ask. I also have a brand new gallery in a super covert, highly furtive basement under a secret warehouse in Roswell, New Mexico and if you have to ask where it is, then you aren't invited. *poof*” 4:56:58 PM 12/19/04 “Hi Hobbit Nice photo's. I see you really like color. What format do you use? Do you shoot color saturated film your do you use photo shop. Do you develop your own film? I see you shoot allot of silhouettes and shapes. Is this your main focus?” 5:31:26 PM 12/19/04 “Lord, Buck..what would happen if you TRIED is scary..without a doubt you have the most magnificient photos, as I've mentioned before:)” 5:59:35 PM 12/19/04 “Hey Hobbit....long time no see...err..mmm type! I too love to look at photos and yours are wonderful to behold! Buck..keep trying you'll get there someday ;) What's with all this *poofing*??? LOL! I have been working on my website....still a long ways to go. Windwalker Images *poof*” 6:16:08 PM 12/19/04 “Awesome photos everyone. I too have caught a bit of the photography bug, although it is still secondary to the actual hike. Here are some of my photos. http://community.webshots.com/user/lumberzac” 6:25:46 PM 12/19/04 “Wow, and I thought I had some nice photos. I'm not worthy; I'm not worthy... But if you want to check it out anyway, here goes: http://community.webshots.com/user/phantmsoul” 8:16:58 PM 12/19/04 “Wow.... you guys all have some terrific stuff! I can't wait to dive into it all with more time on my hands. Thanks for sharing.” 6:22:40 AM 12/20/04 “Flatlander Matt, to answer your questions: I shoot mostly 35mm, and I use mostly either Velvia, or Provia F film. I use Photoshop, but mostly for the portraits I shoot. It has some wonderful retouching tools. Occasionally I will pack a 6x7, or a 6x4.5, but the 6x7 is so heavy that I don't use it often on the trail. I don't know that I really have a main area of focus, other than anything that catches my eye.” 6:32:54 AM 12/20/04 “buck-- talking about "way too many photos"... I've taken about 8500 on my digicam since last (2003 Thanksgiving)... putting my camera through a rigorous workout!!!” 9:39:01 AM 12/20/04 “Hi Hobbit, Those slide films do a great job, I shoot mainly bw, but I do shoot Velvia 50 4x5 from time to time. The colors in your photo's looked a little saturated, that's why I asked. I have had similar results using a polarizer with these slide films. With digital enhancement so available today, a natural scene has been lost. With today's color films it is hard to truly match the scene.” 11:34:33 AM 12/20/04 Dive - Dive - Dive “... Dive into http://www.iamdave.com The better stuff is in the sale area, but there are some hidden gems throughout. There are over 1150 photographs on 1287 pages. Much of it is crap, but it shows evolution in my work. I don't do a whole lot of backpacking because of the weight issues. Some would think otherwise, but I am not a packmule. I visit this web site so that I can pick up tips about cutting my pack weight. (and sometimes raz y'all) To optimize my time off, I decided to drive quickly to places of interest, then explore by car. I never really kept track of bag nights, but did sleep in the tent every night for 5 months in 1997. Car camping was the way to go. Often in friends backyards, or in National Forests. I've done many short day hikes with 30+ pounds of cameras on my back. All of this was done so that I could travel and process my 35mm film. Since 1997, I've seen 47 states, 8 provinces of Canada, and 8 Eurepean nations. Now that I've seen how the land lays across North America, it is time to slow down and get into the deep wilderness with my 4x5 view camera! Please enjoy!” 11:48:43 AM 12/20/04 “I do believe that Buck and Wind Walker have the best work here!” 11:55:21 AM 12/20/04 “Here are a few old Webshots albums.. http://community.webshots.com/user/indianajohn100 And a new page I was working on.. http://home.earthlink.net/~farless3/ Most of my better stuff is on slides and not in digital format yet.” 12:09:56 PM 12/20/04 “Yoh, Goat, haven't stumbled onto you wandering the streets of Chatfield lately. ;-P BTW, the school referendum failed, who woulda guessed???! ? OK, I'm gonna post some old stuff of mine.... If I can get into the site. LOL! WOW, FINALLY made it in: http://www.usefilm.com/photographer/83.html” 12:52:49 PM 12/20/04 “Chatfield... I won't be home for Christmas. Just to many unanswered questions about that referendum left unanswered. Something is going to have to be done soon about the school issue.” 12:58:01 PM 12/20/04 “Hey Liz--cool pics... :-) we need to talk sometime!” 1:02:43 PM 12/20/04 Added a new album 11:47:40 AM 12/21/04 “I'd love to see your stuff. Everybody, I'll show you mine if you show me yours Come on people! Do I have to do everything? Work with me! I refuse to believe I am the only one here. I refuse this blatant opportunity! But I am heading to the out of context thread” 11:51:06 AM 12/21/04 “here is my webshots albums. They don't eeven compare to some of you folks pictures http://community.webshots.com/user/ewker” 11:54:48 AM 12/21/04
