Blasphemy, I Suppose.....
I've drunk water out of the same creek quite a few times and never had ill effects.

Not until sometime in the last ten years have I used a filter and I've never gotten sick.

I don't just drink out of any old creek, mind ya.

Quite a few back country guides and experienced backpackers don't filter water 100% of the time.

In Elkins, WVa it is +1 and feels like -9 according to the weather.com.

Once we got down near Seneca Rocks there wasn't even any snow on the ground.

Mark

Glad to hear that y'all had a good time. The pics are super. Wow...what a view. I couldn't leave Ben home alone after he just got back from school. We ate and watched football.

Too bad you didn't take part in our death march up that freakin' mountain!

We were lucky to have a window of opportunity where the snow wasn't deep enough to require snowshoes and we got some maximum visibility on Saturday.

heeheeheee...yeah poor ENS. I remember hearing him shivering. I don't have a whitegas stove so I have no clue how to work one. I can tell you that I'll get me one and I'll practice now that I know what a #&%!$ they can be. lol

oh...picture:

Just because I love VA so much...I had to put my thoughts down on "digital paper" i guess. LMAO... I am rolling on the floor here right now. that pic is exactally how i feel about VA.

white gas stoves aren't THAT complicated. but do practice with it before your depending on it. Just takes a slight "touch", but really its no biggy.

ENS has a new Whisperlite, or something.

Hey, the guy is an artist and not mechanically inclined.

I probably could have got it going, but had to stay horizontal.

He worked on it until his hands were frozen.

He had to give up and get in the sack too.
His own dang sack, Gemini !!!!

Gemini, I think it was +10 the first night and about the same for the second night.

that's a good TR Gemini! And that pic that you drew of the VA State (Gestapo) Police is right on! lol

MarkO is on his way up to PA right now to meet me here in York for a beer and to get his glasses! TT event in York PA if you can make it!

The trails that we hiked were the Flatrock Run Trail and The Roaring Plains Trail. We got above 4700 feet and the total ele. gain/loss was just more than 2000 feet. We hiked 12 tough snow miles though!

I want to go hiking again! When is the next trip?
