lol, no I didn't want to get hit. The kids were being good finally, and I didn't feel the need to step into the gap.

Thanks everyone. But c'mon, people, post your Christmas family pics too!

I don't like belts. I prefer suspenders.

I need to discuss it with Father Goose, HOI. Which reminds me.

Suspenders on chicks are sexy, although I'm sure that'd be redundant in your case, lyra...

Yes, disgustingly normal, as I like to say.

Here's the Christmas photo card we sent out (if you really need to see us up close, you can find the same pic in my "France II" photo album on webshots):

bit - how old is your son? I've been thinking about setting up a kids hike like Sass does in Michigan, but didn't know if there were enough folks with little ones around.

I knew you had a daughter, and I knew MDS and Becky would be interested, but didn't know of many more.

Dayhiker, set it up and people will come. If they don't then you have a nice hike with your family. I've always been surprised at how many folks show up for the ones we organize.
We have a family picture for the Christmas cards around here somewhere.....

My son is 6, but he will be 7 in February.

What time of the year are you thinking about, dayhiker?
bitpusher

Sass - that's what I need to do.

bit - don't know. When it gets to where the lows are back around 40 then I'm probably game. My son will turn 5 in Feb. I'm thinking of something maybe a mile or 2 in from a TH at Sipsey or Cheaha. I wish you could backpack at Guntersville. Jericho might be a possibility, but I think the uphill on the way out would kill that.

Do you know of any decent campsites in the Sipsey off of the 201 or 202? Those are nice flat trails without any real challenges on them.

12/20/04

ummm - unless things have changed lately there are about 100 blowdowns on each of 201 and 202 - at least that is what the FS posted at the trailheads in early November - you might want to check with FS to see if anyone had cleared them yet.

It's boring up on 201/202.

About a half a mile down the "trail" to where we camped at Quillen is a nice fall. On the down slope side of the fall is a nice flat area for camping. That's one place that comes to mind.

Turning up White Oak Hollow there are some nice campsites.

I know of a really nice campsite about 2 miles in from Adams Gap at Cheaha. There is another decent one 1 mile in a Cheaha Falls and some fairly close in to the Devils Den area from Lake Chinnabee.
