Adventures in the Colorado Rockies!

“Hey everyone...

Just wanted to share some photos from a snowshoe we did today over in State Forest State Park. The snowshoe was to Lake Agnes. Normally the distance would be 0.8 miles one way but since the road was closed that adds an additional 1.5 miles of well packed snow for a total of 4.6 miles round trip.

The whole time we were snowshoeing this trail I wished our friends from back east could be there with us to enjoy this beautiful place!

Oh I should state the elevation of the normal trailhead is 10,250 feet and the elevation of Lake Agnes is 10,663 feet but I'm not sure what the elevation was where we parked, but I believe it was below 10,000.

“Its worth a look... there was one section that I was feeling a bit whooped. Since I'm not totaly used to the altitudes it effects me a little when I go above 10,000 and I have a little bit of a headache still.

By the way its about a 2-2.5 hour drive to the trailhead.”

“I was pleasantly suprised yesterday that I didn't feel any ill effects of being at 10,000 +, the last time I was up, i got a slight headache, i drank a lot more water this time.

“yeah, stikmon, you might not need snowshoes after all. There wasn't much snow up to 11,000, except the occasional snowbank that was partly solid and partly not.”

no significant damage reported though.”
