Shaving in the Backcountry

“I am looking to see how other women handle the hair on their legs and pits while out in the wild or how they don't handle it. Any advice or words of wisdom will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.”

“When I don't shave for 4-5 days my skin (legs) gets red and irritated no fun when out on the trail. My husband doesn't care if I have hairy legs, I am the one who cares.”

Lets not take this too far; some gear company wacko might read this and get the stupid idea of trying to sell stilletto hiking boots and fishnet long johns.

“Assuming you truly are a female just do the same thing you do at home. Put some soap and a razor in your pack and go to it at the first available opportunity. If you need some light just ask the guys and they'll all stand around with their headlamps blazing. Be sure wear a thong or less and you won't have any problems. Problem solved. Next!”

“I agree, it's a hygene issue. I usually just carry a disposable razor and some glycerin soap. The disposable razor is *somewhat* re-usable as long as I keep it well rinsed and keep the blades covered when not in use. It has a hollow handle so the weight is negligible. I keep the soap in a little plactic jar. You can get those at samples section of Walmart but a lot of outfitters carry smaller ones that I like better. Also, I've found that the glycerin soap rinses easier than other soaps.

LOL @ all the guys! Our neighbor regularly shaves her legs on her back porch and there ain't nothin' sexy about that! We like to call her Pat. Poor G00SE!!! He's been driven in from working out in the yard several times this year by that spectacle.”
