“There are no cabins available at Rickett's Glen State Park, and so far there are no cabin alternatives.

For now, we've been reduced to tents, but never fear, it will still be a rockin' time! We're going to build a fire to keep warm, large enought to see from outer space!”

Interesting that they require ropes to winter hike on the trail. I wish I had all the technical gear for the falls and someone experienced to lead. Ice climbing some of those falls (the smaller ones, NOT Ganoga!) would be a hoot.”

The bushwack part of this trip will be awesome, but really hard. I'd really like to try some technical ice climbing. I was kinda surprised that the park requires technical gear for the trail.

“I only have instep crampons so I don't think they would have enough bite to safely hike down into the glen area.”

“you should bring them anyway, rich. that way you can at least get some hiking done even if it's not on the main trail.”

No. I’ve videotaped the Stanley Cup Finals when I was out backpacking. It was great. I could fast forward through commercials and pause the game for pee breaks.”

we have huge superbowl parties, i can't miss out on those.
