I took Saturday off, so I'm hoping to meet all of you fine people! I'd be there early early Saturday (I only live abotu 45 min. away.) Still not sure if I'll be spending the night, I need to check out the campsite availability. I'm also bringing my man (Outdork.)

reallu. that's odd. I have 4 point insteps, but, they kinda suck.

I expect the trail to be pretty iced. Especially how cold it's been lately. There should be some good icage now, and it's supposed be cold for the forseeable future.

ENS, what kind do you have? I was checkin' out Ebay, and saw Kongs, Black Diamonds and a few others. I'm thinkin' maybe buy a lightly used pair, that's much more affordable.
BackSlacker

yeah, used is good. Prolly find them on the web "used once" or something like that, and they'll be practically brand new Mine are petzl 12 pointers strapons. Black diamonds are good too.

my crampons are my favorite piece of gear. I love them. When I went hiking in them, I loved going up the steep hill. It was so much fun.

Hey BS
Have you checked with the local ski outfitters? Sometimes they'll rent this kind of stuff too. I haven't called anyone about it, but maybe Pelican (over on Highway 18) might rent crampons...

yo Backslacker - I have 2 pair of crampons, Black Diamond strap-ons that I use for regular hiking boots and step-ins for my plastic boots. You can borrow my strap-ons for this trip and I'll use the others. Even if I don't make the trip, I'm sure there will be a way to get them to you.

BackSlacker

no prob, and if you do bid or buy a pair, make sure to get strap-ons. The step-ins only work on boots that have the heel welt designed for them.
