7.

Kevin, I really want to bring him and Emma to Hot Springs and to toph's Sipsey trip.

The other day I think it was Reece, Emma, and me at home. Mrs day and baby Addie were gone. He said something like, "We've got'em outnumbered now."

Add in hyway's kids and we'll all have a great time. I've been meaning to email birch about it since he and I had been talking about getting a Smokies trip up. It's a dang long drive for them though. I did a trip planner on it, but can't recall the time. 8 hrs maybe.

I'm amazed that Laurel travels really well. She doesn't mind long car rides as long as there's a decompression runaround at the end. It's hilarious to be driving along listening to her make up stories for her toys.

Reece will cut out an army of Pokemons from photocopies and have these long conversations. It's hilarious. There is a pokemon called Chickarita. I've taken to calling the baby Chickarita. It ticks him off. It's about 5 hrs so not too bad. When HPM and I met Laurel and Emma were either just born or right at a year. It's amazing to think it's that long ago and yet so recent and yet we haven't hiked together since.

good god, man, I understand the short part, but why were you doing that other part without the door locked? haven't you seen fast times at ridgemont high?

I was changing clothes in the bathroom and Emma walks in. I'm buck naked and was walking to my chiffarobe to grabs some drawers. I need to learn to lock a door. Anyway, I kind of shuffle past her and she says, "Daddy, I promise I won't laugh." What would you laugh? "Because you're naked, I won't laugh since I saw you naked."

I'm not quite sure how to deal with that exchange.”

Dayhiker:

My response to her would have been to ask "Where have you seen other people laughing when someone is naked?" or something to that effect. Her answer could be interesting.

Sass is helping abby pack for a wks vacation with gma. While packing Sass asked about what toys should go with, she mentioned her doll that was bought (no idea when) at Cracker Barrel. She then announced that the dolls name was Cracker. Sass tried to change the name to CB and Abby said "ya, and her nickname can be cracker". Too funny.

Quite a few years ago, my youngest step-son was about 5. He was outside playing, then he came running into the house yelling " Mama, Mama, I saw a pecker-head, I saw a pecker-head"!! He had just seen a red headed woodpecker.
He is 22 now, but we still laugh about that.

Okay, not something she said, but something she did... the Madster's (18 mos) best friend in the world is our dog... He licks her fingers, licks her face. Is truely wonderful with her...

So last night, the dog licks her face. Two seconds later, she's licking the DOG's face!!

One of the things we screwed up with Grace is her bed time habits. Barbie rocked her to sleep past one year of age and we have struggled getting her to simply go to sleep on her own.

Lately, I have been pulling this duty because I don't take the tricks she tries to pull.

So last night I put her in her crib and tell her I will be back in a second (to read to her untill she falls asleep) because I have to turn the hose off in the backyard so that your sandbox doesn't flood. I never went back into the room and sure enough, she fell asleep on her own.

She woke up this morning (after I had already left for work) and went to look out the window. Barbie asked her what she was looking for. She said...

"Daddy never came back last night from turning off the hose. Yep, my sand box is still there, but I don't see daddy."

You watched what, commando?

Ha ha!!

There was a period when one of us had to lie down with and read to #2 boy or he would not go to sleep.

At about that age----1.5 to about 3-----#1 would climb in bed on his own if he was tired, no reading required.
He would sometimes just disappear at sleepy time and we knew where to find him.

She has to have someone in the room to fall asleep. We spoiled her that way.

So I'm taking Laurel in later this morning to sign her up for kindergarten. She kept saying "Mommy, I'm not old enough to go to school!" I explained to her that her next birthday is her 5th birthday, and that's the day she starts school. She started running around screaming "AAAHHH! I"m getting old! I'm getting OLD!"

I loved starting school. Except I had to sit next to a girl who smelled like she never learned to wipe. The kindergarten teacher let me sit elsewhere.

All through kindergarten Austin kept saying he never wanted to change schools, and wanted to go back to his old school (pre-school), because in his new school, he had to do stuff EVERY DAY!

I don't know what they do now in kindergarten, but the only thing I can remember was making pictures mostly. I remember we had to bring a small mat to take a nap on. The kids do have fun in preschool, field trips, crafts and other fun things.

Richb, I recall eating paste in KDG. Now they do all kinnds of stuff now. I was amazed at the math and writing Abby had to do last year.

She still doesnt believe that she is a first grader now, she will argue the point. Kinda funny.

Laurel just amazed me by properly writing out the numbers, 2, 3, 5, and 8. Wow. I've tried getting her to write letters and numbers but she doesn't show much of an interest at the time. I guess the information is sticking though. I keep trying to get her to write her name, but every time she gets to "r" she writes an "s" after it. Maybe I should just work on writing the alphabet with her.
