I love the ones about the bathroom stuff!

Outhouses provide endless entertainment for the kids. One time they each looked down the hole and were amazed at the size of something they saw. So when it was my turn, they kept telling me to look - "it's really huge!" they'd say - the guy in the outhouse next to me was cracking up.

i remember when i was a kid, and it was a hot sticky day, my mom complaining about her blouse being really hot. i was thinking apron, not blouse, so i told her to take it off. dad liked that idea.

what? what are you all staring at?

Laurel just came up to me and said "Mommy, where's my pink phone?" I said "You don't have one. You have a blue phone." Her reply: "Well, let's go buy a pink one right now! You have lots of money! I saw it!"

I'm doomed...

This past week my family went with me to a conference on site at Disney.

Upon getting off the ride Test Track at Epcot my 5 y.o. said, "Now that's what I'm talking about."

Upon getting off the huge waterslide at the hotel, "That water slide Rawwwks!"

When pulling up to most of the cool rides Emma would say, "Am I tall enough for that one?" Sadly, the answer was usually no.

She missed out on Thunder Mtn Railroad, Splash Mtn, Test Track, ....

The only ones Reece missed are ones I wouldn't want him to do anyway. Space Mtn and Aerosmith Rock'n'Rollercoaster come to mind. We actually measured him for Space Mtn and he as about a quarter inch too short.

The girl loves the Goofies Barnstormer rollercoaster though. She likes the adrenalin rides more than big brother. If we go back in 2-3 years she'll be in business.

Space Mountain isn't really all that much of a rollercoaster, to be honest. Its biggest feature is that it's inside. The Rock'n Rollercoaster though, whew. That's a coaster! The initial acceleration is intense!

The only thing that concerned me about Space Mtn is the negative G sections and the fact that you don't sit abreast. He'd do much better with a little cuddling during that ride.

We rode Aerosmith coaster 2x in about 30 minutes. The clouds and rain from Rita kept the masses at bay. That and the fact school had just started.

We were lucky to ride that one once, with the advance ticket thingy. But it was worth it.

I rode one a few years ago at Kings Dominion (VA) that has the electromagnetic launch. Then its entirely in the dark. Between the 70 mph launch and not being able to see what's coming up next, I just about $hit myself. Best coaster, ever! Can't remember the name, had something to do with aliens.

Sounds like a good time dayhiker!

I took the kidlets to Disney last April. (ages 4 and 6) and they weren't really into the rides. We saw a bunch of shows, they played in a fountain...Animal Kingdom was their favorite place. Oh, and Ketchakiddie Creek at whatever water park we were at was a blast!

WK - the one at King's Dominion? Gave me a headache from banging my head around. My first clue about that ride was when they made everyone take out all their earrings.

Animal Kingdom is building a coaster called Expedition Everest. It looked very cool. It won't open until '06.

Yes, Animal Kingdom is fun. We did that the last day and were pretty much out of gas at that point. We had much more fun last year when we did it earlier in the trip.

The next time we go we'll have to check out the water parks. By then we'll probably have a third one in tow and will have to sit out stuff like we did this time with Emma.

Talking about Goofy's Barnstormer roller coaster reminded me of the time I took Tucker to Disney World. He was 3 or 4 at the time, and it was just the two of us. I had read one of those "Unofficial Guides to Disney" books, which had told me how to get through the park and hit the most stuff in the best way. I had a detailed plan and agenda all ready to follow. So we lined up at the gate near the castle prior to it opening. When they let us in, we rushed to the Dumbo ride. There were very few other people at this particular gate with us. We rushed around the castle and there was Goofy standing there all by himself, apparently waiting for the onslaught of people. At this point, there was literally no other people around except for Tuck and I. Goofy got down on one knee, threw both his arms wide open, and gestured for Tucker. Just like a Disney commercial, Tuck ran 50 feet or so right into his arms and hugged him.

I'm thinking, "Oh, how cute. Okay, hug Goofy then get back here so we can follow our agenda." But no. Goofy stands up, takes Tucker by the hand, and turns around and walks away from me with Tucker. I was a little annoyed to have to abort our agenda already so early in the day, but I follow the two of them. Goofy took Tucker to ToonTown to his Barnstormer coaster and puts Tuck in the first seat and sits next to him and then rides the ride with him. And I stood there kicking myself for not having the camera ready. DOH!!!!

True story from a guest preacher today, his son when he was around 7 had this experience... boys bragging about dads being smart. 1. my dad is so smart(electrical engineer) that when he talks most people do not understand what he says. 2. second boy my dad is so smart (aeronautics specialist) when he talks half the people dont understand him. 3. preacher's son well my dad is so smart when HE talks NO one understands him.
I know it sounds unreal and corny but the kid tells it true.

Recently we were at a climbing gym with my 4 year old and they have a ladder there that you need to have someone belay you as you climb it. My 4 year old comes over to us and says "you can climb that ladder as long as someone [i]believes[i] you."

THis past weekend we took the kids to their first college football game. We were in the east upper deck and were on the far side from the Alabama bench. We sit down and Reece quicly surveys the situation. Dad, we're sitting on the wrong side, we're supposed to be over there (points to the Bama sideline). I was pretty impressed that he noticed and picked up on all of that. The whole stadium is full of crimson clothing, but we're supposed to sit there!

Sat night I'm bathing the kids. I get Reece out of the tub first and am drying him off. He's sitting in my lap and we turn towards the mirror over the vanity. I notice a bruise on his forehead.

Reece, did you fall down?

Yes, I fell in the gym on Friday at school.

Did you cry? (trying to figure out how hard he fell)

No, I'm naturally brave when I fall down.

I had to bury my face in the back of his neck so he wouldn't see me laugh.

That's better than what Laurel said last week. I add a foul smelling (s--t cocktail is my name for it)bacterial solution to the koi pond to help the biofilter get going. The stuff is purple. Laurel saw me holding the bottle and asked "Mommy is that juice?" I said no, it's for the fishies. She caught a whiff as I was pouring it in and said "Mommy! That's stinky! That's poo poo juice!" I almost fell in the water laughing.

A few minutes ago Luke (5) was in the bathroom doing his daily constitution. As I was sitting at my desk I heard him yell out across the house, "Hey Mom! My poop looks like a cornucopia!" I started giggling and went to check on him. I was so surprised to hear him use that word and even pronounce it correctly.

So I went into the bathroom and asked him where he learned that big word? He said, "I thought everybody knew cornucopia, Mom." And then I asked him how long he had known that word, to which he replied matter of factly, "I've known that word for a really long time, like since the 1st of October."

When I was young, my dad was pursuing his Ph.D., I surprised my teacher at school when I was found sitting alone in a corner of the boys' room. They asked me what I was doing, and I replied, "Working on my thesis." (I totally forgot this episode, it was told to me later)
