Gradual weight loss is more likely to last than sudden bursts. It looks like my body may finally have figured out that I ratcheted up the exercise and ratcheted down the calories. I think I've lost about 2 pounds (total time = 8 weeks), but all in the past week.” 8:34:28 AM 11/16/05 “I've lost 21 pounds since mid august. i'm using trim spa and it really works for me in curbing my appetite. i still have a ways to go and i know that losing weight will help my knees out.” 8:51:05 AM 11/16/05 “I took trim spa for a while and it really helped. I need to get back on the stuff.” 8:57:06 AM 11/16/05 “I did really well over the summer with the 3-Day breast cancer walk, but have been so busy that I haven't found much time to walk since then!!! Stupid weight is starting to creep up on me again... :-( So, I signed up to do the 3-Day again in August 2006... :-) For the one in July, I trained about 250 mile. I hope to train closer to 600 miles for next year's walk.... BTW-- has anyoe watched "The Biggest Loser"? They are really pretty intense in the weight loss-- helps to get me motivated...” 11:19:28 AM 11/16/05 “thanks bowlderman. When I was in my 30's it was much easier to lose weight and I was less active then. I'm riding my bike on a trainer after work and hiking almost every weekend. Having a goal to work for does help keep me exercising too - the new goal is Rainier next summer.” 9:36:45 PM 11/17/05 “the machines at my gym have tvs attached and i've been watching biggest loser while i do my cardio. those fattys have turned into animals. i like seeing em go all out in the last chance workout. i can't believe the guys have been losing double digits for weeks in a row. that's just crazy.” 12:07:18 AM 11/18/05 “have you tried the meth diet?” 7:01:26 PM 11/20/05 “the machines at my gym have tvs attached and i've been watching biggest loser while i do my cardio. those fattys have turned into animals. i like seeing em go all out in the last chance workout. i can't believe the guys have been losing double digits for weeks in a row. that's just crazy.” ductape 12:07:18 AM 11/18/05 when you are the size they are it doesn't take a lot to lose that much weight. I admire them for what wanting to make a huge change in their life. ductapem, does it get you motivated while doing your workout?” 7:26:25 PM 11/20/05 “wow that one guy has lost over 100 lbs since being on that show. None of those people look the same now as they did a few months ago” 11:52:21 AM 11/23/05 “Did you notice that half second preview clip of Matt at the end? He looked like an aneorexic!” 12:12:04 PM 11/23/05 “I missed that. I wish I had Jillian as my trainer =)” 12:15:26 PM 11/23/05 “She likes to rub up against her clients. Did you ever see her "before" pics? Ruf! Ruf!” 12:16:23 PM 11/23/05 “she has before pics?” 12:17:38 PM 11/23/05 “The showed her from before. She used to be huge and fugly.” 12:20:57 PM 11/23/05 “well she isn't now. The only woman left looks a hell of a lot better when she takes off those butt ugly glasses. If she continues to lose weight she will be nice.” 12:25:41 PM 11/23/05 “Suzy is hot. I could almost "forget" about those hips she's so hot. The crying would be worse than the hips (almost).” 12:31:48 PM 11/23/05 “can't work off those hips” 12:33:38 PM 11/23/05 “She's got a pair of hips just like two battleships. -some old tune- God gave women big hips for good reasons... carrying babies, laundry baskets and grocery bags I have large hips and while they may not be attractive, they're very practical and handy. :o)” 12:45:31 PM 11/23/05 “hey sunshine take a look at the Classic TT quote thread ;)” 12:48:28 PM 11/23/05 “I went back on a low carb diet two weeks ago and I've dropped 10 pounds so far. I need to lose some more.” 3:55:02 PM 11/23/05 “my biggest problem has been NOT going to the gym. I worked my butt off to lose weight and now I am letting it back on.” 4:58:42 PM 11/23/05 “has anyone checked out www.peertrainer.com? seems like an interesting concept. I'm checking it out to see if it will really help....” 1:51:06 PM 12/21/05 “Is it too late to join this thread?” 1:56:20 PM 12/21/05 “I already know how to pee, thanks though.” 2:01:49 PM 12/21/05 Since 2004 when I lost 30 lbs... “I'm hanging in around 193-198 even being bad about my eating. creeping up little with little or no excersize in the last 6 weeks. Would like to push back down to 185-190..” 3:37:26 PM 12/21/05 “....as I scarf down a Christmas cookie.” 3:39:51 PM 12/21/05 Ya'all can follow my diet! “It is guaranteed to make you lose weight ;-P For the first time in my life a diet is working for me....and I came up with it all in my little head - all by myself (ie..damn insurance won't pay for me to go to the stupid nutrionist...) First: Get diagnosed with very bad blood pressure and possibly Meinier's Syndrome. Be afraid of eating for a month due to bad cases of vertigo/tossing for hours if you get my drift. Drs put you on beta blockers that slow your heart rate down-making it so that if you eat heavy it sits like a lump for hours in your stomach. They also put you on dierutics to pull all water out of you-keeps the vertigo at bay. Now the diet: First, no fast food. Nothing commercially prepared. That means basically NO eating out. Nothing boxed. No convience foods. Then no caffiene...that means no coffee stops in the morning. And no pastries..because they are premade. Then actually eating fresh vegetables and fruit every day. Then going on a severe low sodium diet. This means anything over 100 mg is a no-no. No meal besides dinner goes over 150 mg of sodium. Think of this: a glass of milk, 8 ounces can have that in it! One piece of cheese can have that! A sandwich with 2 pieces of bread, 1 slice of meat and cheese can contain 1500 mg before the mayo! Learn to shop at Trader Joes and health food stores-and to read every label of every item you buy. Grocery shopping loses all of its allure as you can no longer impulse buy. Get rid of all corn syrup in your diet. Quit eating bread unless you make it yourself and can control what is in it. Most commercial bread is high in sodium and has corn syrup. Start cooking from scratch 90% of your meals. Pump up how many veggies are going in-and use beans and lentils aplenty. Teach your family to eat low sodium. My typical daily diet: Breakfast: Frosted mini wheats with low fat soy milk snack: 1/4 cup unsalted cashews (heart healthy)1 piece of low sodium swiss cheese. I usually munch on a container of baby carrots and peas also. Lunch: leftovers or things like unsalted tuna salad on a bed of shredded lettuce. Salad has a ton of vegetables in it. If not I have rice with lean meat and vegetables and Swiss cheese. Or 2 corn tortillas heated up with swiss cheese. snack: low sodium crackers or yogurt. Dinner: under 500 mg sodium. Dessert: A bit of Breyers all natural ice cream or if I made a fruit snack. and about 4-5 quarts of water daily. My meds make it so if I overeat, I feel bad. And some of my meds make me feel naseous, so some days I can barely eat. At this point I have lost over 20 lbs since Late October. Mostly without trying. What I have noticed is that within 2 weeks of going low sodium my taste buds can tell the difference-my boyfriend is getting used to it-to the point that when he eats out at work he complains now that his lunch was salty. I have also gone as far organic as I can. I think the best diet is one imposed on you-where you know you better follow it or it will affect you. I have no choice-but being 32 years old, I would like to feel 32 again! I know to get back to being me, I must lose weight as fast as I can, exercise, avoid caffine, salt and stress. I have figured that before I got sick this past summer I was eating 3,000-5,000 mgs of sodium a day, and so much caffine it was scary. Eating natural foods fills you up-and will help your body :-)” 4:12:44 PM 12/21/05 “i'm glad your diet is working for you and i hoping you stay healthy. i eat as very low sodium diet. probably 5 years ago i developed an aversion to salt. i don't know why, i thought maybe it was menopause. but that didn't stop my over eating. i have had surgery on both knees for torn meniscus, which is i'm sure weight and backpacking related. back in august i went on trim spa. it really worked for me, it cut my appetite. now i'm gettinmg by without it and only eat when i get hungry and i'm eating more healthy. i'm down 30lbs but i still have a ways to go.” 6:40:53 PM 12/21/05 “My mother and my sister both can have hardly any sodium in their diets, it causes them to retain extreme amount of fluids.” 8:19:11 PM 12/21/05 “Sarbar, that sonds like a wonderful diet. Pretty soon you'll know exactly what stuff to buy and won't have such a miserable time grocery shopping. I hope you start feeling way better fast! You too Cyndee!! Great job on the weight loss. I never got rid of the last ten pounds or so I wanted to lose. I'm starting to think that I'm meant to weigh in at 145ish. The numbers don't really matter too much anyways.” 9:05:08 PM 12/21/05 “Yep...I know pretty much what I can and cannot buy now ;-) Helps when I have the kid with me...I get to use the "if mommy can't have it, no one else gets to have it" line..lol!” 9:12:19 PM 12/21/05 “We just got a Trader Joe's within ten miles of us. I can't wait to go and check it out, but I will until after the holidays. Probably a nightmare about now.” 9:13:58 PM 12/21/05 “My goal, being 46, is to feel 25 again. I don't think I'll achieve it but I can try. last edited: 12/21/05 9:24:32 PM” 9:19:03 PM 12/21/05 Jump to Page << prev
