The real test will come if I get depressed for some reason. I tend to eat more then because I just don't care anymore.” 2:24:48 PM 2/10/05 “embear, just head back to the gym and let all those guys drool over the sweaty you. You know flying makes your a$$ fat ;)” 2:45:36 PM 2/10/05 “If you do go to costco for a yogurt, you will have to ignore their cheesy pizza and their big fresh pretzels they sell. Their pizza is really good and so are the pretzels.” 4:02:12 PM 2/10/05 “You should try the yogurt w/the mixed berries. MMM mmm good.” 6:28:38 PM 2/10/05 “I am down about 8-9 lbs this year. Still at 191 or so. Weight lose isnt my primary goal but is a side affect of my busier training schedule. I have been focusing on eating really well again, thinking of food as fuel as opposed to thinking about taste first. I have been keeping records on my caloric burn when I train this has helped me to adjust my daily eating. Lee, I am still chuckling about your trainer, too funny! I think the not eating before bed is hogwash. As many have said a series of smaller meals is very helpful in keeping your metabolism going faster as aopposed to a couple feasts. A small snack before bed is an absolute must for me. I actually get up during the night between 1-2am and will eat a small snack, though this is usually after and incredibly tough workout earlier that day. Milk and graham crackers always do the trick. I burned just about 1100 cals at the gym tonite and had an awesome dinner afterwords. A fat free hot dog on whole wheat bun, baked beans, baked french fries brussel sprouts, water, decaf coffee and a small dish of low fat ice cream.” 6:55:45 PM 2/10/05 “Sass, I'm not a berry person, but I bet it is good, because all their concession products are excellent. Occassionally I will buy a pretzel for about .95, but in the mall, there is a store, I forget the name, where the pretzels are about $3 each. Now Costco is really cheap, but $3. for a piece of dough is a real rip off. I just came from cruising Costco's snack tables and had some Laughing Cow cheese spread which was good, and Philly Cheese Steaks, which were good too. Their Kirkland Brand 4 cheese ravioli are really good. You really need to try the snacks, because who wants to buy one of their 20 pound bags of food if it turns out to be something that doesn't taste good to you. It really is pathetic how hubby and I work the snack tables. We like different foods, so he will get a snack and give it to me that he doesn't like, plus I will get one for myself and do the same for him. You'd think we were starving, but we do go there hungry after work, and before dinner.” 8:19:45 PM 2/10/05 “LH, the snack tables are a clusterphuck at our costco. I will try to avoid the store entirely if I know they are giving samples. The store seems to fill with buzzardswho clog up the aisles as they eat. The costco berry smoothie is very very very yummy.” 5:31:46 AM 2/11/05 “And the raviolis and pierogis are out of this world good, and not too bad for you either (if you don't fry the periogis).” 7:28:18 AM 2/11/05 “embear, let's plan a women's only butt kicker hike. you, me and yam. Come on!! I cna't this weekend , but I could go next weekend... gonna loose those 10lb real quick. Eating late: I know from my sister. she tried to loose weight, didn't eat all day, only ate after she came home from work. I can't remember the exact time she ate, but it was late. She did NOT loose a single lb. I don't eat after 6PM, most of the time I try not to eat after 5PM, but that's hard.” 8:48:36 AM 2/11/05 “Geminator - If I tried that I'd likely end up with a clock in every room having a different time, just so I could go somewhere to eat where it's ok. How do you like your new name?” 8:53:45 AM 2/11/05 “Gemini, your sister turned on her body's "famine" alarms. That's why Weight Watchers has its minimum-points-per-day. Gotta eat at least enough to keep your body from slowing down its metabolism to conserve fat.” 8:54:44 AM 2/11/05 “Geminator?? hmm...why? I don't think I hurt anyone, did I? LOL Yes Techntrek, that happend a long time ago and I guess back then we didn't know better. At least she didnt'. I can't really remember if I did or not. LOL” 9:00:25 AM 2/11/05 “I was grocery shopping last night and this thread came to mind. I read somewhere once: For fresh, nutritions foods shop the perimeter of the store. That's where the fruits, lean meats, veggies and fruits live. Realized as I walked around how true that is.” 9:21:08 AM 2/11/05 “Yeah don't go down the isles!!! It is time to get serious for summer. So..I better stop eatting all those sweets and junk. Starting today, yup. And since my new job (which totally ROCKS btw) is less strenuous by far on the body I have energy to work out.” 9:25:11 AM 2/11/05 “I do go down a couple of food aisles, cereal - no capn crunch though 8-( Oatmeal or whole grain cereal there. pasta and condiments - oils, herbs, spices And of course I go through the cleaning and hbc aisles. (can't buy tp on the perimeter)” 9:30:32 AM 2/11/05 “Oops, that was me :) I realized that I was in better shape then I thought on the florida trip as the miles, though they kicked butt, didnt kill me and I had no blisters, sores or otherwise afterwords :)” 9:30:59 AM 2/11/05 “I dont use tp (well, while backpacking anyway).... Just ask anyone on the florida trip!!! :)” 9:32:48 AM 2/11/05 “Sass, I was first introduced to pierogis by my mom-in-law who boils them, then sautees them in butter and onion. I love potatoes in every form so I just love them. birch, you sound like my sister. She gets annoyed with everyone standing around the snack tables and causing back ups. She's always saying, "don't these people eat at home!?” 9:36:04 AM 2/11/05 “TMI!” 9:36:34 AM 2/11/05 “Geez, even my dog uses toilet paper. If she has a loose stool that leaves stuff on her butt, or something is hanging, I get TP and take it off.” 9:44:56 AM 2/11/05 “Gem, sounds good to me! I can go the weekend of the 26th and that is it for this month. Ewk, flying does not make my a$$ fat, eating does. :)” 9:46:44 AM 2/11/05 “Here's a hot cereal that my wife and I like and have been eating a lot of Hodgson's Mills Multigrain hot cereal. Has flax and soy in it. The flax is crushed so you get some benefit from it. The soy gives it a better protein punch than you otherwise would get from a cereal (7 grams, with milk on it, more). Hodgson Mill's makes an effort to keep thing organic (not sure how organic).” 9:50:07 AM 2/11/05 “dang I had forgotten I had ordered a box of Girl Scout cookies. At least I did order the low fat ones. lets see 5 cookies=130 calories, 4.5g of total fat, 1g saturated fat, 1.5g trans fat...wonder where the other 2g's of fat are” 9:51:25 AM 2/11/05 here's a link thingy “ ![]() For heart-healthy nutrition, our Multi Grain hot cereal is a blend of delicious and essential whole grains including oats and cracked whole wheat, plus soy, unprocessed wheat bran, untoasted wheat germ and our own milled flax seed – Nature’s richest plant source of Omega-3 Oils. A blend made to please the body as well as your taste buds, Hodgson Mill Multi Grain with Milled Flax Seed and Soy is quickly becoming a customer favorite. last edited: 2/11/05 9:53:47 AM” 9:52:37 AM 2/11/05 “I ate like 10 thin mints yesterday. Bad, bad girl!” 9:55:22 AM 2/11/05 “Oh man Ewker - I bought some too! lee I saw that cereal on the shelves. Is it tasty? I bought some flaxseed this week too. Sprinkled on a salad it has a nice little crunch.” 9:55:23 AM 2/11/05 “Ewk, the other two are probably unsaturated fats, the kind that aren't as bad for you.” 9:56:31 AM 2/11/05 “Dhutch Its not bad. I like it. In the interest of full disclosure, I like oatmeal (plain, not the prepackage sweetend stuff), cream of wheat and other hot cereals.” 9:57:06 AM 2/11/05 “bit, your right butthey should have put it on the box..isn't there laws about that..lol” 10:08:52 AM 2/11/05 “I'm sure they're chock full of hydrogenated fats! :-(” 10:37:54 AM 2/11/05 “Hey I had a good idea Ewker - We could take the cookies on our Indiana hike! I'm sure the damage would be much less severe when shared??” 10:46:57 AM 2/11/05 “I already broke into my box..damn those are the smallest cookies I have ever seen. A quarter is larger than they are” 10:48:43 AM 2/11/05 “Just give your cookies to me. :) What kind of cookies did you get, Ewker?” 10:49:56 AM 2/11/05 “lee, I see the cereal uses flax seed instead of fish oil for omega-3 and that is the better choice since fish oil can contain mercury. That's why I switched dog foods and only give my dog foods with flax seed and not fish oil. Plus you have to know they must use the old unedible fish for fish oil and the older the fish, the higher the mercury levels can be, depending of which fish is used. I may be wrong on this, but even dog foods are using flax seed, so there must be some validity to what I'm thinking.” 10:51:59 AM 2/11/05 “reduced fat Lemon Coolers” 10:54:27 AM 2/11/05 “Talk about disclosure, I bought a pkg of shortbread cookies, they may have been Nabisco, are they called Lorna Dunes? I haven't had them in years and the cookie was so small and thin, but companies have been reducing the size of their food, but keeping the packaging the same size for years, so they either keep the price the same and lower the content or lower the content AND raise the price. I usually never buy cookies, but I tried one of these Sandy cookies hubby bought, and really enjoyed it since I don't indulge in sweets. Then I read the box. The cookie was 100 calories. I would never look at that pkg again and was so glad when hubby finished them. I like him to buy cookies that I don't like to keep temptation away.” 11:02:11 AM 2/11/05 2:56:08 PM 2/11/05 “I can't eat breakfast. I'm just not hungry in the morning. I can do chocolate chip pancakes for dinner.” 3:31:45 PM 2/11/05 “So, I was cleaning out the pantry and found an unopened box of lee's favorite cereal! Seems I thought it looked like a good idea too. It is only a month old, so I opened it and made a serving, drizzled just a touch of honey in it and added bananas. mmmmmmyeah!” 6:24:01 PM 2/13/05 “Look on the labels of some of the foods you buy -- Fructose is the "F" word, and most commonly artifically occurs in the form of high-fructose corn syrup. Fructose is like a super-sugar which is completely empty calories, moreso than sugar or even plain corn syrup, any should be avoided as much as possible. Now while it may not be completely possible to eliminate foods with high-fructose corn syrup (it is a rather very popular sweetener in just about everything), any significant amounts that can be trimmed out work wonders. Once again, this sort of thing has worked for me in the past... last edited: 2/13/05 10:49:52 PM” 10:48:27 PM 2/13/05 “I looked in the pantry today and found: a bag of dried lentils, a bag of dried navy beans, some bulion cubes, both beef and chicken, some garlic, and some wrinkly potato, oh and some stale cheeze its. In the fridge I found a half empty bottle of Sprite. A half carten of orange juice, some questionable meat, some jars of pickles, olives, and hot peppers, and some wrinkly grapes that have been there for a while. I think it's time to go shopping.” 7:15:49 AM 2/14/05 “Lee, I saw the cereal in the store over the weekend so I bought it. It wasn't bad, no worse than oatmeal. I didn't doctor mine up like dhutch did but the honey over it did sound good.” 8:46:06 AM 2/14/05 “Exercise, Try pushing the chair back from the table LOL.” 8:57:42 AM 2/14/05 Ewker and Dhutch “I had it this morning. That, 1/2 banana, a cup of soy protein, some juice. I ate pretty bdly all weekend though. Out for lunch both Saturday and Sunday. Out for dinner on Saturday. Let's see.\ Pizza., salad, wine Friday night Hot cereal for b-fst sunday smoked salmon plate for lunch Saturday Mexican for dinner Saturday. tortilla chips, calamari and red snapper with spicy broth that had octopus, squid clams mussels and scallops in it. Sunday, eggs an bcon for breakfast Late late lunch (2:00) of Clam choweder and a salad. Dinner was scallop ravoli and too much bread.” 9:01:23 AM 2/14/05 “Lee, you have to splurge ever now and then. I am back to my normal cold cereal with skim milk for the weekdays. I had a good Indian meal Sat. night. I had a vegetable fritter for an appetizer, then Lamb Biryani with Naan bread for dinner” 10:17:24 AM 2/14/05 “I had a prime rip saturday, and I know I'll pay for it all this week. :(” 10:25:25 AM 2/14/05 “What, did you pull a dutch oven on your hubby or something?” 10:27:13 AM 2/14/05 “Come on, Gem, spill the beans!” 3:14:10 PM 2/14/05 “what you mean? NO!! We went to this military dance...and they didn't have my ordered vegetarian lasagna, so I choose prime rip instead. That's all!! See!!! not that bad!!! paying all this week meaning: gonna look like a ballon because all this damn sodium. last edited: 2/14/05 3:58:37 PM” 3:58:07 PM 2/14/05 Jump to Page << prev
