Oh how foul LOL!” 5:19:48 PM 2/14/05 “I have finally started losing some weight. I went for the longest without any weight lose and now it is going away....woohooo. Still got a long ways to go to get back where I was at last yr at this time.” 9:17:49 AM 2/17/05 “I've gained 2 lbs back. I need to really start watching what I eat. This weight loss thing sucks!” 9:30:19 AM 2/17/05 “As of this morning, I have lost 20 pounds. Still have 24 to go. My rate of losing has slowed a bit, but I'm still doing pretty good. Everytime I think I've hit a plateau, I back off on what I eat and bust through it. Seems to have worked so far.” 4:08:32 PM 3/03/05 “I was wondering how it was going. That's awesome Bit. I like your straight forward approach too.” 4:09:47 PM 3/03/05 “Kewl Beans, buddy! Now, if we can just get you on a trip.” 4:11:17 PM 3/03/05 “awsome bit.” 4:11:29 PM 3/03/05 “Man, good work!” 4:11:44 PM 3/03/05 “Thanks all! There should be a trip of some type soon, but stuff keeps getting in the way. I plan on going to the Farewell to Yam trip at the end of April, if Cub Rendezvous doesn't overlap. This weekend I plan to go down to the Costco and buy some smaller pants. All my 42 waist pants are too damn big for me now and it's getting annoying. I had to take in a notch on my watch's wristband, too.” 4:14:13 PM 3/03/05 “Nothing like that new pants feeling!” 4:15:03 PM 3/03/05 “congrats, bit! i started weight watchers points system this past monday and already lost 3 lbs! prob all water weight like all diets in the first week.” 4:58:50 PM 3/03/05 “Yep. But keep going! Are you doing any kind of exercise?” 5:00:18 PM 3/03/05 “I can tell a lot of you are losing weight. I'm finding a lot of it.” 5:10:16 PM 3/03/05 “well maybe u'll find the 20 lbs that i'd like to lose” 5:37:59 PM 3/03/05 “and you can have my 10lbs while you at it.” 5:41:02 PM 3/03/05 “ha. buck's gettin fat” 5:49:08 PM 3/03/05 “I want to lose about 10 lbs of flab before the beach. I'm planning on cutting back on the weights and increasing the cardio.” 5:55:16 PM 3/03/05 “So far I am down about 10lbs this year, I dont look different to me but I went shopping today and I have dropped a solid two inches in my waist, a 32 is very comfy now!” 5:31:16 PM 3/06/05 “Yea for you! I am down 5, got 10-15 to go. But I am going to throw my (insert D word here) on the cruise.” 7:16:20 PM 3/06/05 “Enjoy the cruise Tango!and congrats on the 5.” 7:37:13 PM 3/06/05 “6 lbs since i started my diet last monday. 30 more to go! LOL” 6:39:37 AM 3/07/05 “6 lbs in a week, Scorch? That's not healthy! Slow down, girl!” 7:29:13 AM 3/07/05 “it's just the first week... every time i start out a diet i always lose weight fast the first week (water weight) then it slows down to 1-3 lbs per week.” 7:32:33 AM 3/07/05 “Thats because you arent loosing fat the first week. Your body is using up its "sugar stores", which can be up to 10lb depending how much you weigh. Once that is gone, your body goes into hunger mode, and I bet you notice around the two week mark, it getting SUPER hard to control your cravings. Moral of the story. Exercise. Make exercise a part of your daily regiment, and control your portion sizes, and you will lose weight safely... My wife lost 70+ lbs with this, and she is keeping it off. -percious” 8:21:58 AM 3/07/05 “I've been going strong for two weeks and no results. (sigh.)” 1:49:47 PM 3/07/05 “hmmm time to start again. can not afford a new wardrobe.” 1:53:10 PM 3/07/05 “pixie, don't give up!” 8:04:14 PM 3/07/05 “Percious is a guy?” 8:09:14 PM 3/07/05 “Ok, is it too late to join this thread? I've really got to take off some weight. More importantly, I need to improve my fitness level. If I could just stay away from the easter candy. Gawd, I love those marshmallow and caramel eggs.” 8:11:17 PM 3/07/05 “Keep with it Pixie!” 8:15:10 PM 3/07/05 “i had sushi and seaweed salad for lunch today. I love that stuff, and it's healthy. got to stay away from the dark chocolate and the black liquorice. need to get back into more cardio, but I don't like to run on the road, and the park closes at 6PM. Summertime starts soon, and it'll be open until 9PM. much better for me. I still am doign cardio, but I should be doing more then 2 miles per day.” 8:15:41 PM 3/07/05 “I want something really decadently sweet right now, fortunately we don't have anything like that. Well, we have lots of old Halloween candy. But all the good rich stuff is gone, leaving just mini-tootsie-roll-pops and such. I want like, a banana split with a lot of whipped cream. And some really rich ice cream like butter pecan and french vanilla and chocolate. Yum. Dammit. Oh well, diets suck. But I gotta stay strong. Where's the liquor, hahaha!” 9:04:37 PM 3/07/05 “Mmmm, I found some peppermint schnapps.” 9:06:00 PM 3/07/05 “And I drank them all. Scorchy if you lose 36 pounds you're gonna look like a death camp victim. Or were you planning on cutting off a leg?” 9:23:33 PM 3/07/05 “Percious what are you talking about? Are you saying we all have the equivalent of two five pound sacks of sugar in our bodies? Where's the sugar stored?” 7:16:49 AM 3/08/05 “i was jk. i just wanna lose about 20 or so.” 7:23:57 AM 3/08/05 “Durn. Was down about 6 but I've been loosing the battle of the fridge. I can completely ignore hunger and the urge to eat all day. After dinner - bam!” 8:49:32 AM 3/08/05 “Sass...in your liver and muscles, in the form of glycogen. When you start on a diet, your body draws all that down first, before you start to burn fat.” 8:52:47 AM 3/08/05 “7 lbs and still going strong!” 10:03:55 AM 3/08/05 “Alright! Keep going!” 10:15:02 AM 3/08/05 “werd” 10:15:46 AM 3/08/05 “But Bitpusher, isn't that replaced immediately? Your levels of glucogen have to stay stable or else you'll end up bonking. You don't burn that before fat starts to be burned. The lower the intensity of excercise you'll burn more fat than glycogen. There's no way we have 35,000 calories worth of glycogen in our bodies. The norm for an endurance athlete (professional marathoner for example) is an average of 2,000 calories of stored glycogen.” 11:04:36 AM 3/08/05 “OK, so I'm full of #&%!$. lol. Anyway, I'd always heard that the body uses up the glycogen stores first. I guess that was wrong.” 11:09:34 AM 3/08/05 “bitpusher, your not totally full of #&%!$, you are slowly losing it ;)” 11:12:52 AM 3/08/05 “Slowly?” 11:13:34 AM 3/08/05 “Aren't we all though? Thank goodness we don't have to burn through the #&%!$ before we hit the fat stores! ;)” 11:39:21 AM 3/08/05 “Carbohydrates break down into glucose molecules. When used as energy, carbohydrates fuel become fuel for your muscles and brain. If your body does not have any use for the glucose, it is converted into glycogen and stored it in the liver and muscles as an energy reserve. Your body can store about a half a day's supply of glycogen. If your body has more glucose than it can use as energy, or convert to glycogen for storage, the excess is converted to fat. the amount of carbohydrate you eat determines the amount of glycogen stored in the liver and muscles, which in turn greatly affects your performance level. When you eat foods like fruit, cereal, or bread, glucose goes into your bloodstream quickly, ready to provide immediate energy to the brain, muscles, or other body tissues demanding energy. If glucose is not used right away, it is converted and stored in the liver and muscles as glycogen http://www.indoorclimbing.com/carbohydrates.html” 11:56:03 AM 3/08/05 Jump to Page << prev
