During Lent this year, my hubby and I made the decision not to watch TV UNLESS we were exercising... so we'd walk on the treadmill or do our elliptical rider.... It was a good incentive to: 1) watch less TV, and 2) get in shape...

Been walking a lot for my Breast Cancer walk...

I logged about 40+ miles this week, but am paying for it in blisters....

The scale hasn't changed (only lost about 5 lbs so far), but I know my body's 'redistributing" the fat and muscle, so I'm not so worried about it (yet)... Hopefully, the extra pounds will start coming off soon!

thought I gained like a zillian lbs during the Cali trip...but it ended up being only water weight...scared me though...cause i thought we ate a lot and I also forgot to take my thyroid meds a couple time...puhhhhh...

It's all good today...took like 2 days to get back to normal? strange, but hey I ain't complaining.

Gem, you have a thyroid problem?

yeah....have to take meds every single day. I think I take them now for over 20 years alrady.
sucks big time.

bad part is that everytime I get it checked they are low, but now low enough to increase my meds. makes it hard as hell to loose weight.

heehee...like I said... I have it for a long time...I remember going to the doc because I felt like I gain weight way too easy...doc looked at me and said "hey eat less". duh...idiot...

a year or so later I found a big lump on my throat... didn't hurt but it was golf ball sized.

They checked it...[can't remember details, but I think i had to drink some stuff], but I do remember the huge needle they used to remove it. [it was only liquid filled].

that was it... i take meds since then.

oh and yes...it was pretty much like I woke up one morning with this huge golf ball sized thingy on my throat... no slow growing thingy

it was a huge needle that removed the liquid. that's all they did. I remember the handle on that injection...it was silver and the doctor sort of pulled. whhahaaa....okay, now I am having flash backs. stop it!!

my sister also has a thyroid problem, but they did remover her thyroid completely. she's still having problems trying to get the right dose of synroid meds for her. sucks to have a thyroid problem.

I ate way too much in Jamaica last week. My wife and I both gained weight. Back to counting WW points for a while I guess.

a couple lbs...but I am ending up on the gym thread... because well...you can't effective lose weight without workout. I found that out real quick.

i would say lets do this together, but I don't weigh myself anymore... [or i'll start crying, so I just ignore the damn scale]...

I don't go to any as it is....I learned a long time ago fast food is a killer.

I really need to tone and lose a few inches. Not rejoining the gym cause I just can't pay for it...hittin the streets I suppose is my best option.

Today was the first meeting of our "Health Watchers" group at work. We had a few rounds of Weight Watchers at work, but the rising cost turned people off. This is a self-run group, we bought a scale and will weigh ourselves in every week. Then at our weekly meeting, members will take turns presenting health-related topics.

The goal is to support each other in our weight loss/healthy living goals. Today, we each had to say our goal out loud for the next week, so there will be accountability within the group.

HOpefully it'll work out nicely. I just recevied my wedding dress in the mail today, and it zips up, but I certainly need to lose 10 lbs to make it comfortable!!

IMO if your weight goals are set up on a week to week basis, the program is destined to fail.

how come you wouldn't eat that on a "healthy" day, Gemini? actually i loooove sushi too, but i'd like it better if it was brown rice instead of white. i've heard of a place near me that makes it w/brown, i'll have to try it soon.

that work group thingy sounds like a good idea, smiley!

because of the white rice. I don't like brown rice THAT much. I think sushi needs to be made out of white rice.

gotcha. i like brown...and when i do eat it with white, i start to feel like crap shortly thereafter, LOL. but i don't eat it that often, and it sure does taste good!

I will walk the dog every night.
I will drink 6 glasses of water every day.
I will run 3x this week. (my goal)

There's hope Scorch. I almost gave up hope. When I met my wife (well, she wasn't when we met) I knew something was different.

She is absolutely incredible. I thought I met "the one" many times before, but this one was different.

You see. You gotta whip 'em into shape from the get-go. If she responds, grab her! The other ones weren't "whipable". This one was different.

I gave up trying to lose weight. I've just accepted those extra 15 pounds that I've put on slowly over the years. It seems like I haven't gained any weight in over a year, but I'm never going to lose those extra pounds. I think it has something to do with hitting my mid-40's.
