Want to lose weight, don't move anywhere near the Tillamook Cheese Factory in Tillamook, Oregon. They make their own cheese that is widely sold on the PNW.

They give out samples where you take them yourself. I figured you put one chunk on a toothpick of each kind, but saw people in front of me sticking on as many that would fit on the toothpick. I guess they are regulars and may even live in the area.

They sold what was called squeeky cheese. It's cheddar cheese curd that's used to make the cheese and it's good, a bit salty and squeeky when you chew it, but really good and mild like a cross between mozzarella and cheddar.

If you live nearby, it's the biggest and really only tourist attraction, and they sell small food items and they make Tillamook Ice Cream that's sold in regular grocery stores, so you can get ice cream and yogurt, etc.

It's a fun place. You see the factory from windows on the second floor. It was part of my OR trip to Yachats to the Nat'l Forest and Ecola State Park which is very beautiful, but all that hiking never took off the pounds from eating all that cheese!!!

I hit the scale a couple weeks ago at 145 lbs - I haven't been that heavy since I was pregnant with my son 20 years ago. Anyway, I'm on doing weight watchers online and I'm down to 141 lbs. The goal is to get back down near 120 lbs. 145 lbs is a lot of weight for a small person and it really started to slow me down. On top of that I look like hell in my bike shorts.

I've gained about 9 pounds since starting school and my knee started acting up. My jeans are too tight.
I just can't seem to get to the gym or find the time (or energy) to get out for runs or walks. I guess I'm going to have to take the less food approach. I probably eat entirely too much anyways. Think I'll start a rough calculation of how many calories I'm eatting a day. For the last week I've knocked out beer and tried to eat a bit less.

Because they're way too tight and I need to either lose weight or buy new ones.

I'm about 5-10 pounds too heavy. I thought once I got back to running more regularly it'd come off, but it's not. So I've had to cut back on - gasp! - beer. Only 1 or 2 a week now instead of 4 or 5. Also cutting back on portions in general. So far I'm down about 2 pounds.

The Jerry Lewis diet. When asked how he lost a bunch of weight, he said "I eat 50% of everything put in front of me." I love it!

but yeah, I need to do something. My body fat percentage creeped up another percentage. Dang!

I wish there was an accurate fat-o-meter for home use.

I've been riding the bike and running like crazy every since a knee surgery. Because of lifting weights I've gained 5 pounds so far.

Looking at the scale is useless (in some situations).

I'm in the same boat as WK, never quite hit 145. However, I can tell that I'm getting soft and flabby and it's more not being toned than it is being overweight. I hate that.

I've been eating for training, not for losing and with a little extra ice cream on the training table, I've creeped up to 195. I should be fine if I cut out the cream!

I have lost about 5 lbs since my foot has healed. I have been going to the gym 4-5 days a week, which has helped keep me motivated. But I seem to be at a standstill now. I guess I gotta cut out the alchohol.

WoundedKnee and SvenGolly,

Give it time. Age has a way of creeping up on you. My ex was always between 125 and 128 pounds. He wore 28/32 jeans. The last time I saw him, he commented on my gray hair so I commented on his waist size, noting that he isn't a 28 anymore. Then he proceeds to tell me that he doesn't wear a 32 anymore either. He wears 30/30. He was bewildered because he's the same height. I didn't have the heart to tell him that was because the waistline now sits below his belly rather than across his waist thereby dropping his pants a couple inches. Heee, heeee! I LOVE it. :D

em, I'm thinking the same thing. I've been working really hard on eating healthy foods and taking it easy on the not so healthy, but no result. I'm thinking the drinking is where the calories are coming from. I need to cut back.

Sunshine, if I had a dollar for everytime I was told that I'd be rich. You have to know my family, I will not be gaining any weight as my age increases. I so take after my uncle and grandfather. Both skinny as a rail still.

When I was losing weight earlier this year, I did pretty much switch to red wine from beer.

But somehow, a glass of wine just doesn't cool you off the same way a beer does. Now that fall is here I'll probably switch back to red wine again.

i started drinking wine instead of beer too...it really gets you toasted much faster, which is the main benefit!

I'm hoping that the teaching profession helps me lose weight. Today was my first full day in the classroom, and I barely had time for lunch. And I'm not even the teacher!

Plus, it helps that the school is 80% Arab, and they're all fasting for Ramadan, so eating in front of them would be a bit rude.

Anyway, I know that I ate a lot at work simply because I was bored there, so being on my feet all day should help cut back the calories.

Wedding dress, here I come!

Last weekend was my 16th anniversary so I kind of slipped and haven’t gotten back on track because I’ve been putting off going to the grocery. Even with my slip I only gained like 2 pounds. I’m going back to phase one of the SBD. It didn’t seem like I was losing on phase 2 and I kind of liked the menu of phase one better.

Hey Sunshine, age has crept up on me, lol!

I didn't gain a lot of weight since high school many, many, years ago, (I've gone from a 28 to a 30 in 20-plus years) but it is very hard to keep from gaining the older I get. My motivation and discipline slip a lot easier nowadays!

OK who derailed this thread!! This is about losing weight, not about me getting drunk in the classroom! (Especially since I'm not a big drinker!)

Anyway....

My body has kept this weight very steadily for about two years now. So, does that mean this is the weight I should be? I consider myself with ~15 lbs extra. It doesn't seem to matter how much I eat right now, I pretty much stay at this weight.
