Idears? “Are there fun places to hit without the white stuff? I know the coast and Point Reyes. Does anyone have any woodsy idears? Thank ye.” 11:00:00 AM 12/27/04 “Are you looking for backpacking or day hiking? It appears that for the next week you will get either white stuff or wet stuff pretty much anywhere.” 11:05:11 AM 12/27/04 “rosey You could go north to the redwoods a bit. Thats woodsy and They dont get much snow. Also I used to play a lot in the hills round auburn in the winter. Sometimes there was snow but never a lot. Its a good time to explore the canyons while its not hot.” 11:07:50 AM 12/27/04 “I really like Ishi Wilderness, especially if you bone-up on the story of Ishi, etc., gives one a sense of local history.” 11:08:50 AM 12/27/04 “go up to Etna and hike on the PCT. It has been decent weather up there” 12:38:32 PM 12/27/04 “Thanks guys. I shoulda said a multi-dayer. Ishi and the redwoods seem a little far of a haul for me. 4+ hours, no? If I drive that far, I guess I could just go to Yosemite and snowshoe around. Where is Etna? thanks, all.” 5:00:44 PM 12/27/04 “Enta is in northern ca. Northwest of Shasta” 5:12:59 PM 12/27/04 “Ishi's not too bad a drive. Since it's not that far off I-5 from Red Bluff, you very good roads most of the way & can make good time. I think it's only about 140 miles to Red Bluff from Sac (2 hours), depending upon where you start.” 5:27:51 PM 12/27/04 “Big Sur. There's a hot springs in there, can't think of the name right now, but it's a day or two hike in from the coast. I think you can also get to it from hwy 101. I've never been there, but have read trip reports.” 12:44:31 AM 12/28/04
