Since I can' t backpack, why not car cam p?

“since my knee is AFU, i still want to get out one last night before the new year.

i'm thinking of just heading to the pine barrens batona campsite since it's closeby me and it's pretty much backcountry car camping .... (if there is such a thing, this would be it, it's very primitive.. the "camp store" is a half hour from the actual site.)

just curious if anyone would be up for this? i know it's not backpacking, but it's the closest thing i can do until my knee is better.

“I decided to take an extra day of vacation on my last trip to the 'dacks. I had packed my car camping gear (sans giant party tent) in anticipation of this "spontaneous" act. I got my start in car camping in the 'dacks and did it out of nostalgia mostly

Went to Meecham Lake (a camp ground I had never been to). All the RV labor day weekenders were leaving. I got a beach site and enough free wood for a winter. The first thing I hit was the Shower.

And there I was, alone in a DEC campground, bonfire raging, cooler full of beer and "real" food, and Loons calling out.

It was like a vacation and was spectacular.”
