This year they were giving away free doe tags so that more folks would harvest does. Seems, for some reason, all the hunters want to shoot are bucks. I mean, they'll shoot a spike that weighs about 50 pounds...rediculous. Everyone has dilusions of hanging a 'trophy' buck on the wall.” 8:07:59 AM 12/14/05 “yeeehaa i went back to the woods on monday the day after it ended-the peace and quiet was deafening.” 8:11:29 AM 12/14/05 “Seems the deer around here are getting smarter or the hunters are getting dumber. A deer ran between two hunting buddies and one guy shot the other in the shoulder - the deer got away.” 10:10:46 AM 12/14/05 “OMG so sorry I clicked on this thread... carry on while I go vomit!” 6:43:21 AM 12/15/05 Forests provide a constant symphony. “ the peace and quiet was deafening.”I, too, have found the woods peaceful, but never quiet. However, birds go quiet or leave, when I enter an area. It can then take 10-20 minutes of sitting quietly before they again fill the area with their noises. In the meanwhile there is always the noise from the wind passing through the trees, their branches and leaves, tree limbs rubbing, and a myriad of sounds from any nearby stream, creek or watershed with the water gushing over rocks and debris. Even falling leaves can contribute to the forest's concert of noise as they strike other leaves, tree branches and, eventually, the forest carpet. I suspect that you have not been listening. last edited: 12/15/05 7:27:51 AM” 7:19:39 AM 12/15/05 “concentric circles, nowslimmer, concentric circles.........” 7:21:37 AM 12/15/05
