mine is the commentary track. lots of really interesting info here. for example, the genesis of "fight club" was actually a backpacking trip on the pct. how about that? the best one i have heard so far was the one for "solaris", a sort of artsy-fartsy sci-fi movie by steven soderbergh. its too bad there will never be a commentary track from my favorite director, stanley kubrick. that would have been fascinating.

so, how about you guys? what do u find the most indispensable? deleted scenes, making of documentaries, bios, widescreen, not having to rewind, or what?

I like the way you can freeze the money shot and the screen does not flicker.

my favorite are the bloopers, too bad that they don't have them on too many DVDs.

I also like the different endings.

I don't like the "extra" scenes. Since they weren't good enough for the original release of the movie, why include them at all?

Yeah - mostly I like the commentary, I think I've watched every possible thing on fight club, including all 4 commentaries and I never heard anything about a backpacking trip...

I also enjoy alternate endings, or directors cut.

top dawg, ive heard alot of times directors say that although they enjoyed the scene very much, it disrupted the momentum or the flow of the story, not necessarily that they werent good enough. alot of times they are character-driven, and not essential to the plot.

simer, listen to the beginning of the commentary by chuck paluhniuk and the screenwriter. the part about getting into a fight with neighboring campers and coming into work the next monday

cb - but that has Tom Hanks in it, what gives?

Yes, the Toy Story bloopers are really good. TS3 is coming out in '06.

i do like the deleted scenes, but once in a while they completely go overboard with them. Way too many or way too long. I really don't care if the only thing the changed in a scene is the actor digging up his nose...

bloopers and different ending, still favs. bloopers rank number 1. I could watch bloopers for hours. I think...

You didn't have to see his face in the Polar Express, though the conductor bore a striking resemblance.

The Two Towers bonus feature was Gollum's "Acceptance Speech" from MTV's movie awards.

i think i mightve seen that. its been awhile. is that on the special edition, or the special special edition?

the lotr "making ofs" are out of this world and make me appreciate the films even more. i nominate the extended edition trilogy as best dvds of all time

The Virtual Safari game on Lion King 1 1/2 was funny.

I like being able to change the language though. X-Men has a French track which is a bonus.

It also allowed you to put the extra scenes back into the movie, which was a good idea. The problem is that most of the extra scenes were just longer versions of scenes already in the movie so you had to sit through the scene twice. If they replaced the scenes so they didn't repeat it would be an awesome addition for those who feel the directors original, uncut version is the way to go.
