I did see this flick. It was oddly hilarious. There's nothing like watching a guy fling a steak a half a block and hitting someone in the face while riding a bike.

That is by far the worst movie ever made. It just proves that we will buy what they sell.

Perhaps it is because you have categorized me as a one dimensional person when in fact I am an open minded, multifaceted, culturally diverse human being.

And besides that, girls only want boyfriends who have great skills.

Hey Gonzo, how is Johnny Cash? Calvin says hi. He talks about him often.

Just remember, you asked!

This was one of the worst movies I’ve seen in a long time. The characters were so bland and unlikable I didn’t give a rat’s ass what happened to them. (Remember, you asked!) Napoleon had no good qualities. Not only was he a loser but a liar too. (Remember, you asked!) I thought it might be a funny movie about a geek triumphing over all but it was about a loser who stayed a loser. (Remember, you asked!) Were it not for the nut shot when he ramped the bike or when his uncle knocked him off his bike with a steak to the face I wouldn’t have laughed at all. (Remember, you asked!) 92 minutes of my life I’ll never get back. MTV movies just suck.

A much better geek movie is The New Guy.

There was an article in the paper about it this morning, about how it has quickly become a cult phenomenon. That is, if you're, like, under 19 and stuff.

That's what surprised me lyra because I love the brain dead, just sit back and laugh type of movies like Old School, Road Trip, and Dumb and Dumber. And please don't take the fact I didn't like it as an insult on your personal tastes. Hell, one of my top 10 movies of all time is Beetlejuice! LOL!

Note to self: recatorigize Bacpac as a multi-faceted person who tries new things and watches all sorts of movies, not just John Wayne and R. Lee Ermey war flicks.

Each to his own, but I've seen it twice, my 13 year old daughter and her friends have seen it many times, and we love it. I was laughing so hard when they fired up the time machine, I thought I was going to have a stroke.

The middle school kids use lots of words, phrases, and intonations from the movie as "code" talk. Sweet!, heavy breathing, Idiot!, even "Vote for Pedro".

Yes, he's an idiot. Kip is a loser. There is no plot. I think lots of people see themselves in a total geek like Napoleon, and remember having done some pretty stupid things. They also like the small town setting. Very rural, open space, farming people, but the people are just rural, not killers.

I'd give it a two thumbs up. Loved it.

Joe Dirt rules the world. I even got that movie for Christmas. Yes, I'm still stuck in the 80's. People call me Mullet Man. And yes, I too can nail you in the face with a steak from 100 yards. While moving. Back in the day, I was a champion steak-tosser. When people piss me off in traffic I throw steaks at their windshields. It freaks them out more than anything.

Some of my favorite ND lines:

--------------
Kid on Bus: What are you gonna do today, Napoleon?

Napoleon Dynamite: Whatever I feel like I wanna do, GOSH!
--------------

Don: Hey, Napoleon. What did you do last summer again?

Napoleon Dynamite: I told you! I spent it with my uncle in Alaska hunting wolverines!

Don: Did you shoot any?

Napoleon Dynamite: Yes, like 50 of 'em! They kept trying to attack my cousins, what the heck would you do in a situation like that?

Don: What kind of gun did you use?

Napoleon Dynamite: A freakin' 12-gauge, what do you think?
----------------------

Napoleon Dynamite: [referring to Deb's milk] I see you're drinking 1%. Is that 'cause you think you're fat? 'Cause you're not. You could be drinking whole if you wanted to.

--------------------

Grandma: How was school?

Napoleon Dynamite: The worst day of my life, what do you think?
-------------------

Deb: What are you drawing?

Napoleon Dynamite: A liger.

Deb: What's a liger?

Napoleon Dynamite: It's pretty much my favorite animal.
----------------------

Napoleon Dynamite is so stunningly anti-climatically stupid that it's hilarious! It's like someone made a movie with no real plot or any lines, like they just took a nerdy dude and followed him around and didn't Hollywoodize him or make him come up with incredible lines or anything. It's refreshingly idiotic.

There is a lot of silence in ND, and it adds to the quirkiness of the film. A lot of the people in the movie don't look like actors, they look like real people, and thats how they talk.

"A lot of the people in the movie don't look like actors, they look like real people.."

That's cos thet ARE real people. This was ND's project thesis while he was at Brigham Young, and everyone in the pic are people he went to skool with.

Close, but not quite. I saw an interview of the filmmaker, and it wasn't the person playing ND, unless he looked quite different for the movie. Some of the characters were actors, all the stage hands and behind the scenes people were from the BYU theater program. ND's girlfriend was in other movies, and "Summer" is the sister of Hillary Duff. Uncle Rico is an actor. They used local HS kids, and local locations, because they were cheap. They spent $200,000 on the movie, and have made many millions on it.

Joe Dirt is a good movie, but Napoleon Dynamite is not the slapstick, prop humor kind of movie of Joe Dirt, or Airplane, Naked Gun, Anchorman, or other movies where actors play really dumb people or say dumb things. ND is more like Raising Arizona, and is just a very well done, quirky, memorable movie. The time machine segment cracked me up.

Ruby..... do you drink 2% milk because you think you are fat? Because if you do, you could drink whole milk if you want to.

This independant film was shot by a college student in a small town in south easter Idaho about an hour from me. I can't believe how it's taken off in popularity.

Okay, confession time. Little known fact about me. I was on the FFA Dairy Products judging team. I can't even believe it myself.

Wow.... kismet. I was on the FFA fat stock judging team. I sucked at it. I grew up on a dairy farm, and couldn't wait to quit milking cows. We sold out of the dairy business when I was 18, and within six months I was milking the neighbors cows at night for a part time job. You can take the boy off the farm, but you can't take the farm out of the boy.

Back on subject though..... Most of the people I know either LOVED the movie, or they just didn't think it was that funny. And most of the ones who loved it were under the age of 40. If you didn't grow up in the 80's, I just don't think you can appreciate it.

I was also on the FFA beef stock judging team. I always did really great at judging the classes, but when it came time to give reasons, I just couldn't do it. I really sucked at explaining myself. This is bringing back memories...hooks and pins, heifers and steers, Simmental and Angus.

Oh yeah. And I was in 4-H. I showed beef cows at the county fair and won Grand Champion and a free trip to the state fair every year. You could say I was a bit of a farm girl.

Hobbit, I grew up on a farm in Minnesota. Where was yours?
