Hey phil, word on the street is you and your old lady own a tracker...a little birdy (named nigal) told me...how you like it?...what year you have, what engine, any problems?

Yes, we own a 1991 GEO Tracker. We won it at Disneyland in 1990.

We got 160,000 hard miles on it before the engine went out and we just parked it. During that time it was very reliable and inexpensive to own. We only had one major repair up until that time (computer chip at 100,000 miles).

We felt the Tracker was well-build and a very stable car (unlike the old Suzuki Samarais which were known to roll easy).

I do not know how much different the newer trackers are than the 1991's. But ours was a high quality car.

Hope that helps a little!

thanks phil...yeah the 91's were quite a bit different than the new ones but i think they're still made in the same factories...i have a suzuki swift (geo metro) and it's done great...the geo/suzuki car's have a rep for going the distance

I'm just being a jerk
But i do like the antecedent relationship in these two sentences:

We got 160,000 hard miles on it before the engine went out and we just parked it. During that time it was very reliable and inexpensive to own.

Yup. Nothing less expensive to own than a car you won up on blocks in the front yard.

lee - I thought one major repair in the first 160,000 miles was worth mentioning. If you are interested, I will sell it to you cheap!

i think that about 10k after the engine rebuild, one of the rod bearings came undone. there are no dings in the block wall, and no holes in the oilpan. i just never got to fixing it.

not sure about the new trackers.. but the old ones had a ladder(truck) chassis. not a unibody like other suv's the ride was not bad considering. it floated on mud, jumped well(dad you didnt see me type that) and got decent milage. it did great offroading because of such a small wheelbase, and no.. it was NOT tipsy.

"Here Phil enters our story, kind of. HI PHIL!!! dryfoot made Phil's Dutch Over tamale meal, which was TO DIE FOR!!! (and yes, we see why your wife likes pork best!) (dryfoot found this recipe on the Net. LOL, he didn't realize some of us -- ok, ME -- have met Phil!) dryfoot was ready to make dessert for us and each of us said, "NO NO NO. Let us clean out some more of that tamale dish for you!!!""
