hiking shoes
Apparantly I must have weird feet. I need a 6 or 6//2 4E shoe which seems impossible to find for women. Okay you can quit laughing now. I have checked and rechecked the internet nothing. If anyone knows of a shoe company that makes women's wide hking shoe low or ankle height I would appreciate if you could let me know. I have had so much trouble with bad feet I don't want to take a chance of squeezing my foot into somehting narrow again. What happens if a female wants to hike the AT and she doesn't wear a normal size shoe? Thanks Diane

I tried Vasque, and their "wide" shoes are narrow at the top.

Ended up with this:

I'm telling you, they're what you want. (I have the male version)

Perfect for AT, which is rocky at points.

Ankle height is good for backpacking support.

Buckwithab,
Just buy men's boots. And get the wide size. They will be wider that the woman's sizes to start with.

She would need a men's size 5.

I suggest getting men's shoes as well. I have wide feet and men's workboots tend to fit me better...

If all else fails a custom boot is probably the way to go. Esatto looks like a nice custom boot. It will cost you though $249 to build the last and $449 to build the boots.

Thanks for all your help. My new balance store orderd me 2 pairs of Dunhams 6 & 61/2 2E. They run a little wider so hopefully they will fit. I can't believe how little selection there is. it's not very nice to get laughed at when you want a pair of good shoes. I found another boot brand Geargia Boot that might work ina boys 4. I will try that if the Dunham are too small.
