New Dates for Vegas Trip...

“Due to some scheduling conflicts, I propose trying to move this trip up to sometime between February and the beginning of April (The weather will be better then as well, so hiking might be more fun!) ***

Feb. 25-27
March 4-6
March 11-13
March 25-27
April 2-4

“very cool place to day hike! There is one backpacking trail way up high, and you can hike up to Lookout Mtn, which I did and tried to summit, but the Gods were not friendly to me and made me back off my endeavor.

RR's BLM property and has a great website and a very cool visitor center. it is 30 minutes from the airport and you pass a 24 hour walmart on the way there. I think REI was building a store within minutes of RR last year and may now be complete.

I spent 3 days up in RR. and will again, if I can manage to get back there this year.”

“Thinkbubelz & I went on our 1st (and only) trip to Vegas just before 9/11 occurred (we flew back to Michigan on 09/09). It was for a friends' wedding in Vegas (they had a "rock-a-billy/Elvis wedding"--If you have the Travel Channel, you might have caught a glimpse of us on "Two for Vegas"... :-)

Unfortunately, our camera had a malfunction and I ended up with no pictures....

The Red Rocks area looks pretty cool! We really enjoyed hiking at the Grand Canyon on that trip, but we only stopped into Vegas for a few hours (spent most of the time at the Grand Canyon) so we didn't even get to explore any of the area nearby....

Fly out of Mpls on a gambling trip charter/air only. Arrive early, on a Thursday most likely. Hit the rental car desk for your reserved car ASAP and hit Interstate to the NE!!! Zion is just 2.5 hours away (if ya drive like I do, but heck speed is at least 75 on I-15)

Enjoy Zion!!! Maybe move on to Bryce or Escalante area or even Capitol Reef (as I recall, 5 hours away). ENJOY!!!!!

Head back to spend last night on town in Vegas before flying out.

Pink, I was there over an April 5th type weekend and got pelted by snowsqualls at Zion's Kolob Canyons. It was great and the photography was gorgeous with steel gray, intense stormy skies, red rocks and white snow! There was so much snow at higher elevations that Bryce was out for that trip. But Zion's Virgin River canyon was fine for hiking in its warmer, lower elevation climes.

That trip I also hit Red Rocks. Snow moved through there, too, on that trip. Ya just gotta go with whatever the weather sends ya.

I may have to look at airfares for this trip, but I probably wouldn't end up in Vegas when you'd be there. LOL! doh!!! ;-P”
