So what gift should I get for a person who doesnt want to know the sex of their baby till they are born?

at what point exactly did couples who didnt want to know the sex of their baby become the minority? furthermore, at what point did they become an archaic object of derision?

gift certificates are nice......Diapers are ALWAYS needed......get a gift for the Mother...she will be doing all the work and deserves it!!!!

and after the baby is born you can buy something pink or blue!!!

Green, yellow, purple are generally neutral. Get gifts where color doesn't matter; like all the other supplies they'll run through. If it's their first child there should be a very extensive registry list.

You can buy diapers, pacifiers, wash clothes, bibs, utensils, unisex toys stuffed animals, kids books, formula (if needed), diaper rash ointment, a ball syringe (yes they'll need it) thermometer...

I never found out the sex of my baby before either of them were born.

The two best gifts I was given were a carbon monoxide detector (saved our life) and a baby backpack (I started taking Tucker on dayhikes when he was 4 months old).

But I think a great gift is a gift card. New parents often don't realize what they can use best until after the baby is born.

Well, ya can't go wrong with blue. Pink... ya could... well, unless they're the gender equity types that want their little boys playing with Barbies by age 3. hahahaha

When we had our first baby we recieved so much stuff that we never really used. Gift cards are great! From Babys r us you can buy food diapers, formula, things that you actually might need instead of another rattle.
Something for the parents might also be greatly apreciated. Like a spa package for mom.

Let us not forget Barney!

Laurel got bored with the Teletubbies, and Thank God she got bored of Boobah ( from the same people who made Teletubbies, but much, much worse)she does really like Barney. Clifford, however, is her favorite.

some tips... (I've been to lots of showers in the past few years!)

purple, green or yellow are good "neutral" colors.

Don't get any "newborn" clothes-- sometimes the babies are so big that they won't even fit in them for a few days!

I like to buy something called a "boppy" (helps to cradle the baby in the mom's lap or if the baby's laying down (so that they don't roll around...)

Here's a Boppy (they come in all types of colorful patterns... you can find them at a lot of places that sell baby stuff...):

otherwise, I understand that "onesies" (the little baby underwear that snap at the crotch) are really useful....

As are the little sleep sacks--I usually buy a larger size (at least 9 months to a year) so that the babies can grow into them...It's like a pajama, but the leg part is a sack, so the baby can grow into them... ;-)

Here's what a sleep sack looks like. (i'm not sure if that's what they're called, but they are somewhat hard to find!)
