I dont know how to drive in snow.

“Which was made very clear to me this morning when I drove myself to merrellville. OMG I almost got in two accidents...One I was making a turn and hit an icy patch...suddenly the car wanted to keep going strait towards another car and the breaks wernt stopping it! Whew...stopped with inches to spare. Then driving back by 41 there was a freaking accident right in front of me. I had to swerve to avoid it and kept swerving cause I hit ice again... YIKES!”

No...just very tired. I jsut got home from work. And I freakin only got 3 hours of sleep last night. So um...I gues i should just go to bed but I am too busy rambling to do anything of the sort.”

“the very first time I drove alone, it was in a blinding snowstorm.....and we used to go to the parking lots and do donuts in the snow....so I can drive in the snow....
BUT......I don't drive in the snow down here in Alabama CAUSE these guys do NOT know how to drive in the snow, and THEY are dangerous....”

“living in Germany half of my life I know how to drive in the snow, it's the others that scare me. Hate to drive behind someone uphill. Especially if they don't know what the hell they are doing. I used to drive only stick shift, easier to drive in the snow. ( I think so at least)

div, while I lived in TN they even closed the schools because they THOUGHT it would snow. LOL. Never really did snow that day. LOL Kids were happy!

Practice when there is a lot of snow and before they plow. Practice again after they have cleared the lot and the surface is still slippery. “I drove through IN and IL and MO Friday night. IN was covered in ice, trees, fences, everything except the road, thank God. Someone still managed to drive off the road and make a nice forty minute back-up. IL was rain/sleet, no big deal but got stopped for two accidents and held up forever it seemed.
MO, St. Louis in particular was a nightmare. Almost no visibility, huge wet snowflakes that stuck to the windshield and the road. Lane lines weren't visable and people were driving all over the place. The 18 wheelers were plowing through sending slush waves over cars whoose drivers would automatically hit their brakes as hard as they could and create problems for the rest of us who know how to drive and have enough sense to turn our wipers up when we see a truck getting ready to pass. It sucked. Gave me a cramp in my neck.”

Brakes that don't lock up, hence "anti-lock"”

“So you probably have basic tires with or without antilock.

Get all season tires now and figure out what kind of brakes you have now!

Depending on type you either pump the brake to stop from dying or just hit those puppies. I have antilock but am so used to pumping the brake while slidding that I find it difficult to do otherwise.”

“You shoulkd probably figure out what type of brakes you have as it makes a difference in how you're supposed to apply pressure to the pedal. Anti-lock you press hard and constant, regular you pump the brake.

I got new tires this fall. Goodyear "something" ATV. Turns out they have a horrible rating for snow and rain. My old bald tires were better. The worst part is they're supposed to last 50,000 miles. They're good in dry conditions. Unfortunately it's wet in Michigan often.”

“You want to be careful practicing your skidding in a parking lot. You may well get ticketed for driving to endanger. An understanding officer may go easy on you, but.....

If you have access to a frozen lake you can drive out onto, you won't get ticketed, but there is the issue of possibly falling thru, no insurance once your tires hit the ice, and sometimes..... sometimes, there are idiots out there that may run into you.”
