Lived on coconuts that floated by and eventually found an abandoned barge with water.

Is this strange or what? Hubby looks for the "Axe" brand of deodorant, which is maybe around $4. or so. Then he sees these other ones by Axe and they are about $2. What was the difference? You know how they give mens deodorants names like "cool breeze" or "fresh blast"? Well the $2 ones were called "tsunami". They must want to get rid of those quickly because of the name and are selling them cheaply.

He is very lucky to have been found. I hope his family is okay as well....

I heard on a news show that Thailand is sending out 500 troops to locate the King's son that is missing. What about everyone else?

Blind Luck
Two of my friends (both Japanese and best friends with each other) just missed the whole thing. The one that lives in Detroit was visitng the one that lives in Bangkok (BKK). They were to go to Phuket on the day before the tsunami. Their flight was delayed 24 hours, so they left BKK an hour before they tsunami hit. Their plane was approaching Phuket and the pilot announced they were going back to BKK cause there was water on the runway. (They thought it was floods from rain) They flew in later in the day cause no one realized how bad it really was. They stayed overnight and then went back to BKK. The friend that lives in BKK sent me a picture of his favorite Starbucks on the beach in Phuket (devastated). I am sure that if they had gone down there a day earlier that he and our mutual friend would have been sitting there having their morning coffee when the wave rolled in. It just was not their time togo, I guess.

It's weird to see sunbathers on the beaches with devastation all around them. One guy that was interviewed said it was better for Thailand if he stayed for vacation and spent money there.

Scorch, I don't mean to second guess this vacationers intentions, but without travel insurance, he was screwed, and either had to take the trip or lose the money. I would have taken the trip, flew into Thailand and took another plane to somewhere else or sunned myself inland and not on the beach.

That's a tough call. I'm sure I wouldn't want to loose the money and would go, but once there I don't think I could lay in the sun with my feet in the water as thousands of people around me went hungry. I would have to spend the vacation working for the relief groups.
