January 13 - 16th - Okefenokee Swamp, Georgia
I have two spots open in my group permit for a kayak trip I organized. We will be arriving in the swamp Thursday, January 13th around noon, and will be staying at a campground.
Friday morning, January 14th, we will be on the water before 10:00 am and paddling 12 miles to a designated campsite. Saturday, we will paddle 11 miles to a designated campsite, and Sunday, we will paddle an easy 8 miles out to meet our shuttle.

First come, first serve. If you can make this trip, email me and I will fill you on on the specific details of the costs and itenerary.

I can't wait!!!!!

I've been thinking about trying to set a trip up like this myself. I'd love to see the pics and hear about it when you get back. Have fun.

Will give a full report, Dayhiker! Setting up the permit is a pain, but I appreciate having the whole trail to myself so I am not complaining!

the OK Swamp
Heck, I've not checked this forum since before Christmas! I only made weekend plans the other day, or I would jump in! I paddle FL several times each winter ever since I moved to NGA. I usually go further south, sea kayak to islands, river trips, etc.. I'd thought of the OK Swamp, but couldn't build any interest among paddling friends. Thanks for posting the open slots. Perhaps it will generate interest for a Cumberland Island trip!

Stove and Drala...
If you can make it, let me know! I will probably spark the ignition on starting a Cumberland Island trip soon as well!

Sorry to confuse.
To short a turn around time for me.
Please keep me in mind for future trips.
My poor ol' yak is so dry.

Funny thing is that I'll be on Cumberland Island this weekend.

The Oke is pretty close to me.

sounds tempting
Do they have kayak rentals? If yes, how much does one cost? I have paddles, but no life jacket.

Poop!
Sorry you all - I would have made it a public trip, but was organizing it with my neighbour and her family and her sister and husband were not able to come. HP - I will shouting Hi at Cumberland Island when I am down there!

Nowslimmer, Oke Adventures rents recreational kayaks, but they don't have hattches for gear and stuff.

Om - that's too bad - we are starting on the water at Kingfisher entrance Friday morning if you change your mind!

I am working on a plan for a week long canoe trip between Christmas and New Years.

I had the list down to the Bogue Chitto in South Mississippi/Louisiana or 100 miles of the Mississippi River from Clarksdale to Greenville.

Now I am kicking around going to Okefenokee. Has anyone been there lately?
