every weekend you feel like it was a lazy waste of time if you didn't get your boots dirty on a trail somewhere - anywhere.

your seriously considering buying a condo SPECIFICALLY and PRIMARILY because you would never have to spend a weekend on lawn maintenance.

I was on a guided tour this past weekend, and the Ranger cautioned everybody to be careful at the puddle as it was 3 inches (!) deep and you might get wet. Just as I approached it, he turned to face us again and tried to stop me as I walked through it in my boots. Then he looked up at me and said, "Oh. You're wearing boots." I just smiled and said, "Thank you."

You know, the snow thing. It involves a shovel, and boots, and sometimes gaitors, and a lot of wheel spinning to get you out of that snow bank you're parked in...

...and the best part is, when the snow plow comes around, you get to do it all over again! Yay!

LMAO @ Mike. I got the friggin car stuck in the snow the other day and no amount of digging would get it out as it was wedged pretty good LOL We had to flag down someone with a truck who could pull us out. LMAO. It's funny now. And yes, Mike was wearing his gators.

Tech would you say someone was a backpacker if they go out in freezing cold weather, in the rain, long hikes, come home cold tired, and wet...and consider it the most relaxing thing they could do?

Cold and rainy days were my favorite days for going out and doing the sucky yard work in Florida around this time of year. I'd just put on the rain suit and boots and be quite happy and left alone. I'd be out planting bulbs in the rain in the back yard right now, if I knew where my rainsuit was. :P

How about this one.

You know you're a backpacker when, you're knee begins to bother you on Saturday night so you take 4 advil before you sleep. You wake up Sunday morning, take 4 more advil and wrap your slightly swollen slightly red knee. You hike for a couple miles and rewrap the knee. You hike for several more miles. You make jokes about your knee and how you walk funny now. It's late, it's dark, your knee is now locked up, you eat 4 more advil and continue on for what ends up being about a 14 or 16 mile hike that day with your 35lb pack which is more than a third of your weight. You friend tells you that you look like a zombie or lurch now, but that we should be coming to the end of the trek when we hit switchbacks. You hit your first switchback and jump up and down on your INCREDIBLY painful knee screaming "WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" You proceed to do this at every damn switchback you hit just for the shear joy of it! When you finally get home and unwrap your knee, it's an ANGRY RED & HUGELY SWOLLEN and still locked up. When you finally go to the doctor, the first thing you ask him is, "When can I backpack again?" You go back to work the next day, you tell everyone that this was the best trek ever and you just can't wait to do it again!!! They shake their heads and think you are certifiably nuts.

In the middle of a midnight downpour, you stop to assist a stranded motorist who is working under his hood... using a Bic lighter and a broken screwdriver.

You provide him with a headlamp, a multitool, and two feet of ducttape removed from your Nalgene. In ten minutes, he's back underway.

While you're sitting at a red light, the motorist beside you asks for directions.
"Pull into that parking lot" you say, pointing toward a McDonalds.

Within three minutes, using four maps, you have shown him seven different ways to get there.
