This may have done before but...
WHERE IS EVERYONE FROM??? I notice most people don't fill out their profile or state of residence... maybe for fear of loss of privacy issues? I don't know, but anyway it seems not too many from the East Coast. I sometimes check to see where people are from, either to try and get a hike together or just to try and get a frame of referance for a comment they make or a trail/peak thet've done. Usually I don't get too far, so I thought I'd give this a try so here goes... feel free to include a little about yourself if you so desire...

I'm from Hubbardston... a tiny 1 stoplight town (actually not even a stoplight... just one blinking yellow light in the center) in Massachusetts about a stone's throw from Wachusett Mountain. Not a huge mountain by west standards, just over 2000' but a nice CLOSE place for me to get out and hike daily, get some exercise and test/break in new gear.

This past summer in preparation for my Mt. Washington climb December 5th, I would either load my 2 kids into the double jogger stroller and run up and down the auto road (5 miles) pushing them (110lbs total w/kid supplies) or go without the kids and run up and down a trail wearing a 30 lb pack. I lost 40 pounds in 4 months doing that. Went from 210 to 170.

Divinity, we had the big snow storm the Thursday before Christmas. About a week later it was melted away. It's been raining non-stop since. Not much to miss this year.

Live in Virginia, Little town name Konnarock,
My log home rests at the base of White top Mt. , and you can see Mt Rogers from my front deck, Back deck has a full view of White Top while enjoying the Jacuzzi.
The appalachian Trail is approx 1 1/2 mile away. No red lights. One stop sign, No post office, nearest one in Troutdale VA, Kind a place you can Pee out side , drink wine while riding the mower, OR A COLD BEER, go skinny dippin in the pond and no one will ever know or care.
I lived in the city before but know way will I do that, I made my MILLIONS in the city and now live in the country.
Originally from West Virginia and was white water rafting the New river and Gualey Rivers before they ever became National Rivers and put on the Map. Hiked the Appalachian trail before they had so many Hostels, We did it the ole fashion way, We earned it, with creek baths, peppermint soap, and lots of you know, roll your own.
See everyone at TRAIL DAYS 05.

I live with two dogs off the back of a garage in Rocklin, CA. Everyone knows where Rocklin is. My bathroom is an oak tree out back. I work for several top-secret government agencies that no one has ever heard of, several miles beneath the surface of the earth, including the Pacific Ocean. I will never reveal these agencies so don't try. I won't break even while drunk, drugged, or tortured. I have been significantly tortured several times be various terrorists groups to no avail. The closest I've come to breaking down with info was many years ago when Pamela Anderson was down to her last button on her shirt and held out unless I reveal my sources. Lucky for me Janet Reno popped into the room just then. You think I'm lying.

Fridge, sounds like you've got a nice place. I've been invited to do a whitewater rafting trip on the Gauley River in September. I'm thinking I might take them up on it.

man where i'm from is sorta complicated. I grew up in West Tennesse, but spent a lot of time in Western and Central North Carolina before I took an early retirement to S. Florida. Then, when I realized I was spending all my time running up and down I 95 to go hiking in NC, i said to heck with it and moved to Colorado. Now I live as close as possible to Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park, or at least as close as I can get away with and still make it to my cover job in a reasonable commute.

Lived most of my formative years in Lutherville, MD (hey athikerol - graduated from Dulaney in Cockeysville). Spent two years in Murfreesboro, TN for college, moved back to Cockeysville for a while, and now live in Freeland, MD, just south of the PA border. Not gonna move for a long, long time.
